Well, u better call PML to book u into one of their slots! Its about like a week's driving right? I had my Inspection I check like 2,000km after my indicator light came on cuz PML couldn't squeeze me in earlier!

Cheers!

nivlekx,

your car is still under warranty, bring it into PML and ask them to pull out the diagnostic codes for your autotrans light.

BTW, this should be your first oil service at 25,000 km (approx)? SOME of us (edited after reading RB's post!) don't believe that engine oil can last that long, and would highly recommend you change your engine oil + oil filter around half that duration, i.e., around 12,000km or so.

Also, for Oil Service at PML, expect to pay around $300-$400 for 6.5L of Castrol oil, change oil filter, change cabin air filter. I think that's about all they do for Oil Service.

For Inspection I, it's a lot more checks, but I don't think you'll get there until 45-50k km.

Good luck.

since your car is new, send into PML.

although it's prudent to service earlier than indicated, it's also not wrong to follow your on-board computer.

Cool guyz... Will make an appointment with PML and have them look at it...

Just some advice,

Make sure that u get a CSA that u are comfy with and impress on him that u will not tolerate any crap cuz it has happened before that PML has been careless or neligent in their duties. Car was accidently scratched, wasn't cleaned properly, so on and so forth.

Its best that u look at the invoice and check whatever parts that were changed and do a careful check on your car before driving off. Its definitely worth the time and energy to do that cuz u don't want any heartache later!!

Cheers!

Hi niv.
Would appreciate your feedback on your servicing and how much it costs you... Got another 100 km to go before oil servicing is due... BTW, my mileage is only 17000km..
:)

And I changed engine oil to Mobil Gold at 8000km....

The servicing cost me $280... It was just an oil change, flush and filter change... They topped up some fluids and gave my car a wash and vacuum... The experience was pretty fine... Although I suppose you could have gotten it cheaper at BVO... But since your car is new... Give PML some business lest they try to make your life difficult when you wana make any warranty claims... It's $60 more expensive than BVO I think...

My mileage isnt any much better than yours actually... It was 18250 when I sent it in... I think its too much of stop go driving and idling time in traffic jams... And no... I didn't change my oil at all since I got the car...

They also did some diagnostic checks on my gaerbox and found a faulty relay... As a temporary measure they hard-wired the electronics while they indented the faulty part...

niv - sent my car in this morning and was told that my bill came up to about $350 nett for oil change only...

Also, they asked me whether want to change brakepads and I said no..... costs about 300 plus with labour charges...

I am curious how come my bill is $70 more than yours... Hmmm.. Guess I must scrutinise the bill when I get my car at 6 later.... :shoot: :) :shoot: :)

PML has a knack for adding "little little" items to your service bill so check carefully before paying for it.

They actually added windshield washer additives and some other stuff for approximately 20 bucks or so. Since it wasnt too much I didnt really bother to bargain with them. But the next time i go back, I will definitely make it clear to them to report anything to me before adding or charging it to my bill.

Incidentally, my gearbox is still giving me the same problems occassionally. I was wondering if it could be a heat issue but then the amazing thing is that the fault clears whenever i restart the car and it never comes back again during the same journey. Perhaps there's a virus in the OS.

I am really curious as to what they can add to the bill... I only want an oil change and even then... how much can that cost? their package for 3 Series (all the way to 330) ranges from 280 to 350 (excluding GST)... so my car lies in the higher end of the bracket since I am told my bill is 350 nett.. can meh?

I would suggest you report this and get them to sort it out soon.

A friend of mine sent in his 318ci to PML Alex and was told he needed an engine flush which cost $60. They charged him close to $200 as they flushed it 3 times they said. And when his right brake lamp blew, they replaced both sides, saying the left side was going to blow soon. How they know this still puzzles me. This cost $4 plus for the bulbs and $35 for labor! Total cost for inspection 1 was $500 plus and this is exclusive of oil which he brought.

Had that experience, but I waited for 1hr to change a miserable bulb that in the end, I had to "bang table" before someone came. I made that CSA wait there, whilst I changed the bulb myself!! Change one bulb make me waste 1hr sitting there... kns! But the good thing was that I didn't have to pay for anything, no labour nor parts!

I paid $350 nett for oil change, labour, one litre of engine oil with bag for emergency purposes...

Can't complain but it's not cheap..:)
