Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

the following is posted by my friend....

My uncle was involved in an accident which claimed his life. The accident happened on Monday, 14 Apr 08, at about 5:05pm. Location is along the slip road turning out from TPE towards ECP/PIE after the junction of Loyang Way.

Police have told us that it was a self-inflicted accident because there were no stretch marks on the road. However, we insisted to keep the case open and that it was most likely a hit-and-run as the impact was so great, my uncle was thrown into the drain and had very serious injuries. He had a broken skull, which left him brain dead, broke 4 ribs, which pierced into his lungs and a broken neck. He was found without a pulse but was revived on the way to hospital, where he laid unconscious for 2 days before he passed away.

My grandmother is very depressed since his accident and his death had caused his family much grief.

I appeal to the public to call the traffic police at 1800-5471818 if you have witnessed this horrible accident.

Pls help to post this notice in other forums if you can too.

Thank You.

Alex Loh on behalf of my uncle, Mr Loh Choe Kee. Rest In Peace.

I thought with ABS,there are no longer stretch marks in heavy breaking ?cause the wheels dont lock anymore ?

yes, I and my friend did some testing because of another case (no fatality) and we found that the cars we tested with ABS do not leave skid marks at all. This is not to say all ABS cars do not have skid marks. I suspect Porsche ABS will leave skid marks, but I'm not about to try until the day my new PS2 comes - dun wanna flatspot my tyres now.

KNN both of you retarded issit. :furious: thread starter is helping to appeal for witness, if you guy know nothing about the case jus shut up.

who CAREs you drive a car with ABS or not. this is not a technical sharing thread. :offtopic:

Re: Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

the cops don't want to investigate because no skid marks.

We trying to rebut the presumption.

Re: Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

My sincere condolences to the Loh family....

True, the impact sounds incredibly huge from the description above. Hopefully someone saw the accident, it happened at 5+pm afterall.

Re: Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

from my experience... ABS will leave skid marks... but very minimal and depend from car to car... and the situaton as well as road condition too.... the police should not presume its self inflicted because there was no skid marks... as usual...farking police...

my condolences to the family

Not in Singapore, so can't help in a direct way.

But it is worthwhile noting that pedestrian impacts frequently damage the car bonnet, windscreen and sometimes the roof. Windscreens are often smashed from head impacts. This may give you a few leads for your inquiries.

You did not mention leg injuries in your post. Leg fractures and injuries are often sustained with bumper impacts. The type of body injuries can provide a clue on the type of vehicle and impact speed. See "Forensic Medical Investigation of Motor Vehicle Incidents" by MP Burke.

Re: Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

Sorry about the lost,

It seems that the police pushed the case away rather quickly, don't they have to wait for a coroners' report or something?

Re: Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

If anyone here who has accurate technical info and would like to help out, please write it out in a report instead of posting here because it would not be as effective and instead turn it into another technical discussing thread.

Thread starter is appealing for witnesses not technical info. So should you want to carry this further, please do create another thread to discuss about ABS. If need be and its helpful I will sticky it as well.

Re: Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses

Ok should not be saying this, and dont quote me on this please. Insist a "word" "word" be done as there is suspicion of foul play. When the findings are out, and there is indeed more then the said "accident", and enquiry would definitely have to take place. Good luck.
