Think there is a reason why BMW recommend use of 225 size tyre in front, R18' 19, even 20. Wonder how lazycat find his 245 front tyre performing. Why not 225 front 255 rear? Perhaps you can lower the time?

Your 225/255 suggestion need staggered rim but seems like TS is running on square setup.
And he upgraded to BBK therefore there might be a chance the 225 size tire cannot handle the braking duty on track

Hello... it's 2:41 plus!

Re: F30 335i to Sepang!

Hi all, LS motorsports lost my timing for 2.41 due to sepang technical fault, but my old 2.42.7 timing is logged on the leaderboard on the website using real time logger for all to see, back then I was running with stock rims which are 13kg each haha thus slower timing, I was also still learning the circuit :)

Im running torco sr5 5w-30. It brought down engine oil temp by 5-8C or so from the stock factory fill :)

I can do 3 hot laps before my tires overheat, at that point engine temp would be touching 130C but no limp mode. Engine temp also drops very quickly down to 115C-120C after 1 cooling down lap but have to pit the car because tires are still above 80C. My tires are overheating due to lack of camber.

You can try millers nanotech oil from R2D next time. I also switched from torco sr5 40wt to miller nano 40wt for my F30, the engine temp is about 5-10 degree C improvement from my normal SG driving, spirited run too. No tracking.

Re: F30 335i to Sepang!

Hi brosiss, what's your experience with Millers Nanotech besides lower temp?
My experience with Liqui Moly is not bad but temp seems to be same, as I thought engine temp is more driving mode determined.
Where is Millers Oil available??
Much thanks.

Re: F30 335i to Sepang!

By the way, anyone tried the racing machine installed in PML?
I did a lousy 2'31" in "Sepang" on the machine... lau kui

The engine is quieter than torco sr5 for 4pot TC. Ran millers oil nano for 5000 km, oil temp is still consistenly good.

No experience with liquid moly. It should be good if it meets your requirement.

Can get millers nano oil from R2D, one of our site sponsors, look for Rodney, he expert.

Re: F30 335i to Sepang!

WOW where did u get those rims? Like to check it out too.

IS 245/40/18 the stock size of the tyres?

Re: F30 335i to Sepang!

What's the brand name and model of the rim? And damage?

Re: F30 335i to Sepang!

Hi all,

Wow alot of interest on the rims haha. I got them from Autokinetics, they are custom-made from a brand in the US, u can call them to find out more on pricing etc. Those rims are magnesium forged so you have to take special care of them. Also, 6.05kg for 18X8.5 is the lightest I've came across and my OEM rims are 12+ kg each.. so you'll really feel the difference.

BTW I just came back from Sepang again last weekend. Did a PB of 2.38 on the same setup! Should be able to view the timings on the leaderboard of LM site soon. :D

Akra is not installed yet sadly, hopefully by end of the month, then I'll update with pics!

Cheers!

I tried the machine in PML, not used to the brake - too powerful, i braked too early, managed only 2'32".
