F30 316i or Golf GTI?

Hi,

I'm currently driving a E90 320i and was thinking of a 335i but it's too ex haha.

Next on my more-reasonably-priced-list are the F30 316i (Looks great plus nice interior but lacks performance) or the VW Golf GTI (great performance and practical but I don't like hatchbacks). What do you think?

Welcome to the community Tysigen,

If 335 is too ex, you can consider another with same engine, same spec but different chassis and also faster i.e. 135 (not M135). Also you will be surprised the rear seat is a little more spacious over 335

Not so sure about 316's interior nicer than the GTI's........

Comparing both based on same price level.

One with more preformance, one more branded.

If you don't like hatchbacks, the choice is obvious. Don't buy a car that you don't like to drive everyday.

i used to laugh at fwd / 4-cyl turbo etc.....
until my manual 6-sp lsd 6-cyl e46 coe up, i tested mk5 gti n fell in luv.
much better room space / standard sun-roof / huggin seats / dsg / nice interior n the 'bleeet' sound durin gear-change.
that was until the gti up boost n lots of wheel-spin = sian.
decided to buy rwd n got a 135i n54.
luv the rawness n bm image but little room out bac.
then, test-drv mk6 golf r n decided my personal car for nxt 5yrs.
go test drive both the 316 n 2- or 4-dr mk7 gti (sunroof dsg lsd 4-cyl turbo huggin seats excellent blue instrument lightin) u will be enlightened.

Best litmus test for some forumers here - which keys you can show off on tables? BMW's or VW's?

Easier to decide that way for some.
