My personal view is just to keep the mirrors plain cos they r already so damn huge. Adding design elements to it will only make its ugly size more pronounced. But thats just me..

You guys are missing a point. Yes, big mirrors are part of regulatory requirements.......

BUT CAN'T THEY MAKE IT NICER?

I am not talking size. I am talking SHAPE.

So the M3's and e92's are not TUV compliant?
i knew u gonna bring up the M3 mirrors. M3 was designed when they did not implement the regulation yet. shld they have a face lift, i am sure they r compelled to make something bigger

Re: F10 viewing

Porsche the most no value added design. For more than 10 years, same/similar designs and people still scream and swoon machiam they 1st time see Porsche

Re: F10 viewing

But somehow the shape is still appealing after so many years..993 and 997 ..nice.

Its like girlss body...Nice tits..small waist and round butts....always the same requirement

Re: F10 viewing

Hmm, side mirrors can be changed or mod it without much thought but not for the headlight. On the side of the headlight there are 3 pcs of LED (SMT chip or square type) mounted on it, is FUGLY!!!!

chris bangle's magic is sorely missed

you kidding! didn't he get tomatoes and banana peels on his face when he did the last gen 7 series and all the criticism on the e60 being weird looking back then? and only now some sing praises?

F10 as weird as it looks it will be best selling good looking 5 series in a couple of years time... it will grow on you and lo and behold i can start seeing trend followers coming with upright front snout design ala the 7 series from the eastern auto powerhouses.

let's comeback to this thread in 2013 and reflects...!

Re: F10 viewing

bangles designs although radical has identity. E60 and previous 7 series had character. designs now have became conservative once more.

Re: F10 viewing

Went do PML to see the F10. Actually, I quite like the front....looks quite aggressive. Hv uploaded a couple of photos.

Some impressions of the F10 (non highline) as compared to my current E60.
.
Exterior:
======
- Nice lights at the door handles
- Boot....seems smaller than E60. Golf bags need to be placed diagonally as the sides of the boot are elevated slightly. Nice well on the rightside to put my running/golf shoes though.
- Boot auto close....no big deal, how many times do I need to close the boot remotely.
- No suction doors (vs E60). No big deal, but the suction doors were a nice unique feature you do not find in other makes at this level.
- No folding mirrors...this is a feature I use every time I park....big negative
- 17" rims...looks a bit small for the car size

interior:
======
- memory seats button on door instead of base of seat....great.
- seats seem wider and more comfortable than E60, but somehow the available space seems a bit narrower....can't explain....maybe due to larger centre console.
- Seat leather seems a bit thicker...rougher??
- drinks holder in the centre now....
- electronic parking brake buttons...gotta get used to it.
- no more cruise control stalk to accidentally hit when turning corners....great
- still no space for tissue box....don't germans use tissue paper in vehicle at all?
- no reverse camera....this should be standard by now.
- no navigation...no big deal in singapore

Engine:
======
- 204 bhp vs 218 bhp....not sure how this will translate in actual driving. F10 has 8 speed gears but is heavier...gotta test drive to know.

OMV
====
- Lower than E60, but price is much higher
- Given the market conditions going forward, it means that future F10s will come in with more features to entice buyers.

Servicing
=======
- Heard that servicing computer needs to link to Germany now to diagnose the F10.
- Does that mean we are tied in to PML workshop for all services now?

Still deciding whether to upgrade, despite having booked the car at pre COE rise prices....Somehow, I thought that the decision would be straight forward after seeing the car, but it is not. The features of the 523i (base) just feels basic as compared to my current 525i. Perhaps after the test drive....hopefully.

suction doors and folding mirros can be obtained on the highline version.

Rougher hide found on the dakota leather prevents wear and tear less easily. Does not shine as quickly as smooth leather.

tissue boxes is certainly not a priority for bmw i suppose. drivers who go for performance cars wouldn't really be too bothered about it?

Re: F10 viewing

hi taneks,

nice review.....thank you.

the F10 is narrower than e60... can't remember clearly, approx 90mm.

still no place for tissue box....haha:cool:

is the LED running day lights similiar to those on merc E class?

coz the newer version of 3 series and the latest Z4 has day running lights but its on the corona rings themselves. bright enough to be seen during the day.

Re: F10 viewing
