Engine Oil Replacement

Hi guys

My E90 just flashed me the engine oil sign ....

Can i just buy the engine oil and fill it up or must go service etc?

Car is due for servicing in Jan/Feb but since i am selling it in end Jan...dont feel like doing any servicing now

Also...any recommended oil to get? the logo on the cap says castrol or something?

Pls advise...thanks

castrol is good. but any reputable il like mobil with the same viscosity shld be fine.

Who will want to buy when there is warning flash.....Suggest you buy the Mobil 1 from MX trading ( about $62 for 5litres) + oil filter from Eng Soon ($13) and have PML or BOV change them for you (labour $55)....

if the engine prompts for a 1ltr of oil then you can buy any 1ltr if you're not particular. if you're are get from PML. its abt $25-26+/- per bottle.

but i'm not very sure what you mean by engine oil icon. it could means you need to send in for entire oil change.

it won't hurt if you change earlier. its actually good for you engine.

never save over engine oil change.

need advice,

my E90 just had an oil change and service done 2 mths ago...clocked 4k mileage since then...
it seems like the engine oil levels have gone down rapidly, now its near the low levels...
soon have to top up 1 L.

Is there something wrong like a oil leak or is this normal?

might be an oil leak. definitely not norma

my 523 drink about 1L of engine oil over about 6k km
how much it drink depends on your driving style
some driver with a more relax driving style need not top up even 20k km

if you drive frequently in DS mode with engine braking, more engine oil will be sucked into the combustion chamber and be burnt

thanks guys.

i do drive my car quite hard most of the time...so still not sure if its an oil leak or normal situation to have droppping oil levels...spoke to workshop and PML, all said its normal for a reduction in oil levels after some time.

any other comments and experience with this?

my e60 also got tat sign last week!! went to buy 1 litre and top den no more sign alr..btw, e60 need how many litres when go for servicing? my fren told me his e60 need more than 8litres!! true??
