Engine Oil Level Measurement Inactive

Got the message on my F10 again after the oil sensor was replaced a few weeks back. Argh!!
Understand the oil level sensor is in place of the dipstick to measure oil level anytime we feel like it electronically.
But just wondering if the oil level drops too low, will there still be a warning? I.e another low level indicator warning.

Asking because I am thinking if I could wait until next oil change in another 2.5K km to get it fixed then. (Had my last oil change 2.5K km ago)

Any advice appreciated.

Your oil level sensor pai, replaced, and pai again? SOmething is not right...

Yes if your EO is low, it will prompt you -- provided the oil level sensor is working.

Re: Engine Oil Level Measurement Inactive

That's why I want to wait a little longer to monitor and understand if there could be other reason, and maybe someone had a common issue.

Just want to make sure if it drops too low, there will be another low oil level indicator. Otherwise engine jialat.

But better check with PML man ...

No wonder so many pple are complaining abt not having a dip stick!
I for one appreciate the manual dip stick from this experience.

Re: Engine Oil Level Measurement Inactive

Before you drive off in the morning just check if there is any signs of oil leak on the floor. (I don't think F10 so fast leak.) If no leak then you may wait till another 2500km so its just the sensor or programming problem.

Car only 2 1/2 mths old leh, dun think its leaking.
It's either software, or sensor.
I am quite confident there is enough oil, as the oil change was done less than 2mths back, and I did a measurement abt 2 weeks back when it's still full.
Will monitor for a little while.

Cannot be so fast spoilt again.
Maybe the electrical connector has bad contacts.
Last time my oil sensor did not work after oil and sump gasket change.
After driving and bouncing over some uneven roads... it works again !!!

Re: Engine Oil Level Measurement Inactive

The scary part is I have no way of telling if the oil level has dropped beyond the lowest acceptable point, though as mentioned dun think its has yet, coz I just did an oil change.

Re: Engine Oil Level Measurement Inactive

Just to update, got it fixed at MA.
Did a software reset. Everything ok again.

Apparently, faulty oil level sensor need to resolve in 2 steps.
Change sensor + software reset. Only changed the sensor the first time.

Re: Engine Oil Level Measurement Inactive

Bro,

What about all the codings that you have done? What is your software version now? Shouldn't PML know about these 2 steps? Strange.
