Engine Oil Leakage - 318IS E46

Hi ppls!

I try to search for the posting on engine oil leakage but cannot find.....I hope to get some advise here as my 3 yrs old 318IS is having a engine oil leakage.

I went to juzz for car recently but the problem still persisted.

I need to go down againt to have them check it out for me on Monday....at the mean time any experienced members here can advise?

firstly, is there an is model for 318? next, you should be more specific about the oil leak. is it at the cam cover? at the rubber hoses? at the sump?

Never heard of E46 318is and it doesn't exists. If your car with sports package don't say its an IS. IS only exists on e30's e36's with m42 and m44 engines..........

By the way where is the leak coming from. Common for cam cover gasket leak for e46's 318i N42. Since u say ur car is only three yrs old then ur's is the N42 valvetronic engine.....Next look out for your radiator....its gonna crack and leak later also hehehehehhe

By the way where is the leak coming from. Common for cam cover gasket leak for e46's 318i N42. Since u say ur car is only three yrs old then ur's is the N42 valvetronic engine.....Next look out for your radiator....its gonna crack at the plastics and leak leak leak more leaks later also hehehehehhe

If you own E46 N42 Valvetronic, then most probably is engine header gasket. Mine leak after the 3rd year and also the gear box tank leak due to gasket as well.

Hi Eve,

I encountered the same problem 3 weeks ago in my 318iA. It's just a gasket replacemnt at the bottom of the engine. I had it fixed within 2 hrs for a small fee.

the leak could probably be from the oil filter housing gasket..quite common for 4 and 6 potters
