E90 LCI Ammonia Smell at Exhaust

Any bros out there who experienced such smell coming from their exhaust too?
Its quite heavy smell at times.

Workshop tell me its 'normal'.
All bmw will have.
Don't really trust that.

Expensive and complicated problem ...... Hopefully not.

Dont think it's burning of engine oil cos my oil level dont drop and dont require top up.
Think better not mention WS name here.
Some other WS tell me to change petrol brand.

Lucky the WS didnt ask you to change car.
My thoughts, change the WS that tell you to change petrol brand. The one that tell you it normal, proberly needs to be changed too.

pop your car bonnet, use your phone led flashlight and check any sign of oil stain on the engine block and floor

before i fixed the oil leak problem, exhaust sound incomplete combustion (like pick-up), exhaust tip super black and smell when i stop after a journey

PML SA always say normal...i ask them why my car aircon let in outside air even though my aircon is at circulation mode..he says it's normal for the aircon to auto switch...i told him why my previous cars do not have such issues...he paused for a while and tell me we will check....wtf...i still have 2 outstanding issues never resolved - everyday after driving for 30 mins, car auxiliary fan starts...and the fxxking chirping sound is still there....keep pushing telling me it's normal....my warranty ends on 21st June and i am making appointment to see them again..

Chirping sound means time to change belts and tensioner assembly etc. in fact go and have a look at anything that touches the belts and turns round & round ..... Pulleys ... Wheels etc.

I'm not sure if it's related to your problem but I had the ammonia smell in my previous rides. Turned out gaskets and seals were gone, had the shop change those out and the problem was gone. Monitor your radiator coolant levels to see if you constantly need to top up the radiator.

I'm not sure if it's related to your problem but I had the ammonia smell in my previous rides. Turned out gaskets and seals were gone, had the shop change those out and the problem was gone. Monitor your radiator coolant levels to see if you constantly need to top up the radiator.

Nope. That's the weird thing. But coolant and eo were mixing and burning.

Singapore petrol is high in sulphur and when your EO breaks down it causes potential issues to the cats.

Mine had no white smoke, no coolent leak and no engine oil leakage.
Just the ammonia smell.
That's the weird thing.
Hope cat conv not breaking down.
