E68 & ECOTEK

Save your $ for other stuff

"Invest" the money into pullies if you have to spend it.

oic cos i have this E68 from my previous ride so tht of installing it if it help abit or something....

Was told Ecotek meant to reduce fuel consumption. I have juz fixed one. Will monitor and update those who are interested in due course.

T6, Looking forward to your results. Which model do you drive? Mine is a E34 1991.

E39 525i with very high FC

T6, Really? Can't be as high as mine. 68 litres, 500kms! Anyway, E39 525i is a beautiful car. Mine's in great shape everyway except FC.

Heh heh, wanna bet? I am getting 450km consistently on 68 litres (with the on board computer showing 50km worth of petrol left). I do 70% city and 30% highway. If I can get 480km after Ecotek, will be happy like bird liao. I will test it out on a couple of tanks of petrol before giving feedback.

Cheers

No appreciable diff in fuel consumption. Was doing about 9.5 to 10 km/litre both before and after ecotek.
The thing about the ecotek is that tuning it is not easy and is very subjective. Depends on the sound that emits from the gadget when it is turned by hand. It appears that the type of sound that emits changes over time and is not consistent, therefore making tuning extremely subjective.

Hello T6,

I had fixed Ecotek on my E39 525i as well and the fuel consumption on board computer is still showing 16.1L/100km. No changes before and after installation. I also have the pulley on as well.

Is the fuel consumption normal?

After running a couple of tanks, fully agree with u that Ecotek not effective, at least not on my ride. :(
