E60 Transmission System

Any bros here got this repaired recently?
Yesterday then realised there are actually 8 solenoids in that system, and 2 out of the 8 have problem but workshop recommended changing the whole set.
Including full change of transmission oil and filter plus the solenoid set and labour throw me back by $2K!! Is this how much it should cost as it was way way above what I was expecting:errr:

sounds alright.
ATF flush alone is already $1K+-

In what why do you feel your gearbox is not working well?
Appreciate you share your experience.
My GB is not smooth shifting, especially 1st and 2nd gear.
Oil and filter already changed and ECU reset done.

Hi,

The e60 gearbox is a 6-speed automatic transmission unit and is said to have 7 solenoid valves tucked away in the mechatronics unit in the transmission oil pan. Thread starter, are you sure you have 8 solenoid valves? Correct me if I am wrong....

Thought I saw 8 of them and they come in bright colors. Whether 7 or 8, I changed the whole set.
Problem was felt during cold start up and when I accelerate at high speed like when overtaking. Can feel the gear engagement jerking quite badly. Normal driving no problem.
