E60 Steering column making funny noise

Help! Recently while turning steering wheel of my e60, it produces a tuck sound. Only happens when I straighten my car from a slow turn. Today while going thru humps, I can hear the tuck sound too... Not sure it's coming from steering column or suspension... Hope it's nothing too serious....

Hi, I've just got a 2007 e60 non LCI model. Althought I don't encounter any steering wheel sound. But it vibrates during idling. Changed the engine mount and increase the idling RPM and still does not improve. Any Bro can advice?

Try switching off the aircon - if there's no vibration then it's likely due to the compressor.

I have this problem also tried many ways to solve it still no use many bro's here said that there's bout to be a bit of vibration at the steering.

I can feel vibration from my steering wheel too... Quite noticeable . Is it due to the compressor running? Or cooling fan switched on?
If any guys on e60 have the knocking sound on steering wheel, worry not. Not very serious as it will not dismount itself. It's just the shaft that will retract inwards in the event of an accident, that loosens over time causing steering wheel to rub knock against unwanted area.
I hope he's right ....

Hi, my 11 535i Oso had tis issue , my car is now wif pml and hopefully they can settle it by tmr. Car mileage is ONI 5k. Will update if they solve this problem.

Hi, i got my car bk ytd and Pml did solve ard 80 % of the issue. Y I say is 80 % is be cos the humming sound is gone 90% and the vibration .did improved. according to the service adviser they programme the Car for me. i will monitor and update on tis issue.

I have this same issue on my E60 year 09.... went to PML last week but was told is exhaust mounting. Is better after the repair but there is still vibration on my steering wheels and engine. Pls update me if you guys managed to fix this problem. Thanks a million

My 7yrs old 530 had clucking sounds when I steer and I thought I was in trouble as I thought it could be the steering rack giving way. Check with a mech and he told me have to remove steering system to check and will be costly so ask me to leave with it if it's not unbearable.

I decided to have a second opinion with BVO. After I told Ah Wee the mech, he says it could be due to wotn mounting...Was thinking to myself could it be possible?! Steering sound got to do with suspension mount?

To my surprise, the sound was fixed within half a day and only cost me couple of hundred bucks. Some mounting was replaced and it steers beautifully now... Go figure.

I was told that the control arm might be my issue here. . Not sure worn mounting= worn control arm. thanks for the valuable info bro!!
