Many of the reports say that the new one will not be much different from the old one.... If you take a look at the E46 pre and FL models, those without a keen eye can't tell much of a difference....
I say if you have you heart set on one, just get it and enjoy it... otherwise, play the waiting game.....
They always say never get the first release cause got lots of bugs.... And I think the first batch of 520s had their fare share of problems..... Now, its 'pre-facelift'.... when the facelift comes out, wait a little longer since some of the technologies are new.... once the car reaches the mid life cycle of the FL, then buy.... but by then, a year or two down the road, a new model appears.....
So to wait or not to wait, that is the question.........

quite frankly I cant tell the diff btw a PFL and FL e46 at all. When it comes to FL, what is normally new.

Saw some computer enhanced pics of the face-lift 2007 e60 in the Aussie 'Wheels" mag a week ago in Perth. ( sorry, folks, cant remember if its July or Aug issue)
Article stated no more controversal styling for them now. Go try pick up a copy at Borders. Included some insider info from people who had seen the actual face-life pics or something like that ...

There are slight changes but nothing too major.... take the Audi A4 for instance.... the current model is actually supposed to be a facelift off the previous model (B6)..... but one look , it looks like a new model from the outside.... however, on the inside, there's not much difference except for the steering wheel......
