e60: IDrive, Seatbealts and air-conditioning

Hi folks,

I've recently gotten my ride, e60 523i. I'm experiencing the following 'querks' and i'm wondering if perhaps anyone has similar experiences of knows workarounds...

a. IDrive - is there anyway to turn this off? Using the 'Display Off' function simply makes the LCD screen show black (which we know LCDs can't do a good job of). By night i get this faint grey-bluish glow coming out...

b. Seatbelts - Is there a way to acknowledge the seatbelt warning that the front passanger or driver doesn't have his seatbelt on. (Wait, i can hear 10 persons already saying 'wear your seatbelt you fool...'. While i agree, i prefer it off when i'm creeping forward around the carpark looking for a lot, driving around the block to get some ice-cream, or have something heavier than my laptop/books on the passanger seat when i'm driving)

c. Air-conditioning - Is there a way to default the air-con NOT to turn on on start-up? No matter how i try, e.g. switch off air con before powering down the engine, fiddle ard w/ IDrive, i can't seem to make this preference 'stick'.

Any views?

Thanks

a. can't be turned off - it is part of the computer that's running in the background. the computer is constantly doing checks on any electronic faults.
b. can't be turned off temporarily- yeah! put on the seat belt!
c. no problem on mine- it remains off when i put back the key and restart the engine if i left it off then.

Re: e60: IDrive, Seatbealts and air-conditioning

a) I apologise for not clarifying up front. i don't mean to turn the entire I-drive down, i mean just the 'display off'...

b) Yeap.. been wearing the beats more now... though i'm tempted to just get an OEM belt buckle... ;p

c) My friend advised me that it can be 'reset' at PML via the car key... i'll validate this w/ the CS folks at PML and update this thread...
