E46 interior door panel woes!!

Anyone out there experience this similar problem? The 4 bolts holding onto the interior door panel trims have been giving way all too often. I've had mine replaced over 5 times, on all the panels except the drivers' as I tend to close it lighter after knowing this problem. Got with the folks at PML and they say it's a design fault and I could actually get it replaced free at PML, even beyond the warranty period but making the trip down just to get 4 bolts replaced just didn't make sense to me. Any advise on how to get this problem PERMANENTLY fixed, apart from havign to glue the panels to the door? :whythis:

Hi,

I think you're referring to the white-coloured translucent plastic bolt which secure the internal door trimming onto the panel. It is very fragile, it'll tend to crack initially. T'after, it'll break eventually, if you/passenger slam to door too hard to close or when you're removing the trimming. I kena whenever I opened up to do the speakers wiring, I'm already immuned to it. Eng Soon is selling at $1.50/pc, I always keep some spares in the car, in case the trimming 'fly' out.

Hopefully, the trimming do not 'fly' out when there's no passenger inside your car, it's damn MALU. Don't ever think of gluing it permanantly, you'll have problem when you need to do anything, which is inside the door panel, i.e. speakers, wiring, power window motor, window film, etc...

My advise, close the doors with care, don't slam like the taxi door. Keep a few spares in the car.

Regards

Hi,

Glad to know that I'm not the only one... I get mine at $1.70 a piece at Juzz for Cars/ Guess we just have to live with it.

Thanks..
