'Drivetrain' error

Hi bros,

I need advice on this issue. My iDrive shows me this 'Drivetrain' error. Occurs like twice already. First time i send it back to PML, they told me this could be result of changing to aftermarket exhaust. I did a search on the forum but seems like cannot really find similar posts. Any old bird can advice on this??

I though of changing back to my stock if exhaust really causing the problem. Or is the car itself?? :verysad:

Thanks a lot.

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Kato,

Which model is yours? F20 or E8x?

We'll shift it into the appropriate folder so it helps with the rest of the owners later if your matter gets resolved.

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

OK thread shifted - good luck with your issue.

Just my opinion that if their diagnostics pick up the issue with the exhaust system, it could potentially be the case.

I hope your exhaust shop would be able to do a quick swap and see if that fixes things on the spot and see if the error disappears. Was your exhaust an aftermarket one(I'm assuming so). The new F-series BMWs seem to be chock full of electronics.

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Hi Ryan,

thanks. Previously I send in PML they told me could be the exhaust. But after check its some rubber rings and hoses around the coolant causing the problem due to wear and tear.

So this time round probably they might blame my aftermarket exhaust as well. I just need bros with the same setup to advice if they are having the same issue. Or just me?

BTW I am having a remus exhaust.

Check whether is there any leak or loose at vacuum hose.

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Hi,

Mine went in pml with same error.. Apparently I was being told it is due to fuel pump electronics failed.. Almost a month.. Still on their replacement car..

No exhaust mod done.

U should go bang hard for the problem to be confirmed by their engineers..

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Bros,

I send in my car this morning. They just called mi. Saying is fuel pump fault. Not by exhaust.
6 months back - coolant pump faulty
2 months back - turbo ring loosen
Now - fuel pump fault

....what's next?? Haix....

Btw pml open another SVC Ctr just beside ikea Alexander..hmmm...just came to know abt it...another option for servicing...

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

This is a general error message. Best is still send it back to check even though error message disappeared. I have ecountered this as well.

Well, BMW does Bring More Worries. But don't worry, it will pass and it will be an Ultimate Drive thereafter.

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Again, they delayed my car collectiom citing spare parts still pending in Germany.. lets see if this will hit 2mths of waiting...

So much for being the Asian Car of the year 2013 =)

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

had it similarly too... went to retrieve the error message 'n came out couple of errors, experienced lagging pick up from mid to high end as well. sent it to diagnose and ended with changing a leak hose. till date no more errors and pick up back to smooth

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Those fault codes are always a good starting point when narrowing down the problem area .......

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

Hi bros I have this error this morning when I start the engine
Previously I encounter a jerk when I change to sport mode I am on kellener , and super sprint exhaust quarts, any one have have the same issue can share

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

As RBB said numerous times, get a WS to read the fault code & diagnose it from there.

no need la, we are all experts here. Anyone can just post a "My car jerk" and u see many experts here diagnosing liao. No need to go ws...must pay money. BMW very expensive, cannot anyhow spend more money

Re: 'Drivetrain' error

I still think it's better to go to a workshop. Can someone please post the JB address here?
