It's been about 3500km since my oil change. Being that I set my OCI at 7k - this is the mid point to the next oil change.
So I decided that I would change the oil filter at this point. After all, the filter costs only $8 and requires just 15 minutes of my time including picture taking.
So to do this you would need the following -
- 1 precision flat tip screw driver
- 1 torque wrench (mine is a 12-68nm Bristool with a winding
mechanism). Never liked those click types and the digital ones are
just overpriced and dainty.
- 1 Mann HU816X oil filter
- 1 Ratchet
- 1 3/8" to 1/2" adaptor
- 1 86mm 16 flute oil filter cap wrench (mine has a 3/8" drive which
explains the adaptor)
- 1 rubber glove

Snap the ratchet, adaptor and oil filter wrench together.

Fit the assembled tool over the cap and set the wrench to turn anti-clockwise. Keep turning till it's totally unscrewed.

Cover the area with a rag in case of dripping oil etc.

Remove cap quickly and put over some where with paper towel.

The big and small rubber o rings are to replace the ones on the cap.
The copper crusher is for the oil plug near the oil sump but that' for another day when my ramps come in.

Install the new o rings - please make sure there are no twists and it's aligned to the cap lines.
This should be how it looks like after replacement -
