yes I agree and thats why nowadays MUST read the T&Cs carefully word for word..because a phrase like "Total Permanent Disability" is defined differently by EVERY insurance company...

Taking a hand for example, one company only needs you to lose function of your master hand and its considered TPD, while another one I read requires that you lose both hands and hop around like a rabbit before they allow TPD claim

Precisely. Bought a total permanent disability insurance from my relative a few years ago. It always impress upon me that I will get payout so long I am abnormal; i.e. loss of a hand or a leg etc. Its only until recently then I know I have bought the wrong policy cos I need to hop around like a rabbit or swing around like a chimpanzee (loss of both legs) then I am entitled for a payout. Quite frustrated but have to blame myself for not checking before I signed. By the way, how many of you will really read the fine prints? We tend to trust others alot.

Just bought another investment cum critical illnesses policy from her. Jialak, never read the fineprints again cos just focusing on the Taka vouchers instead. I am a true blue typical Singaporeans. Always kena chopped carrot head since the Timeshares era. Bloody hell....

You did not brought the wrong plan. You only don't know the definition of TPD. The agent should explained what is the condition on TPD claims but Bo pian u focus on shopping vouchers.

One of the forum guy PM me & brought a policy from me last month & last week he asked me how come got taka vouchers. I told him I did not want him to know there are gift by insurer but focus on what he needs and the features of Plan. I da man.

Re: Dead Ferrari driver’s estate valued at S$8.1 million

yup,i'll say medical/ hospitalisation insurance is important nowadays (it's too damn expensive), although we cannot be sure all illnesses covered..... but if we can afford, covering most of the major illness will be better then nothing. my daughter claimed total of more than $300k for some medical/ hospitalisation bills when she was just a few months old. she's now almost 6. if not for the insurance, i could have let her die..... coz even if sell house, $$$ also dun come in so fast.....

Good to read the product summary, and also know under what conditions you can claim for.
Since its your cousin, I suppose you should trust her integrity as well.

There are other partial disability plans and early critical illness plan available as well,
question is, did/will you buy them if being presented, or do we just go for the 'basic'?

There are 2 sides to every story.

I have also encountered clients, who will only buy the basic and cheapest plan available, even though I explained why they need a more comprehensive one.
Fast forward a year or so, they got hospitalised, but cannot claim because of deductibles and co-insurance, now they turn around and say why like this, why like that, insurance never honour, as if they got conned.

We are glad that its now mandatory have proper documentations to prevent further disputes.

when it comes to payouts, I am amazed at how insurance companies can fight over semantics and definitions of "collision" and "accident"... A collision is involved in an accident, and in an accident, a collision occurs... pray tell how u get an accident without a collision?

Well a car can collide with another vehicle, but not with a lamp post or a bus stop. Why? Because a collision by definition involves two or more moving objects.

This is a rule The Straits Times breaks everytime it reports on "collisions" involving cars and trees. If a tree had indeed been walking around, forget about the damned accident - that should be the top news item of the day

Fine for man who caused friend's death in car crash

An army medic who drove his car into a tree last May pleaded guilty on Wednesday to driving negligently, and was fined $7,500 for causing the death of a colleague and injuring a second passenger.
After the collision, Goh went to the aid of...

AXA pays... The winner are the lawyers.

Re: Dead Ferrari driver’s estate valued at S$8.1 million

"someone" might be trying pull a fast one like "deliberately" trying beat red light result in accident & decline the claims.

Good that AXA pays if not, even he say how good the company or spend millions to advertise their services, all up lorry.
