Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors For E90 320i?

Hi guys,

Becos of the 18' rims I have, the brake rotors seems small and don't look too good.
I really like those cross drilled or slotted rotors.

Can anyone advice if the cross drilled/slotted rotors can be fitted without changing/upgrading the calippers? (as in, only change rotors)

- My ride is a E90 320i... do they have any aftermarket rotors for my car?

- If they are available for my ride, do I fix up all 4 wheels or just the 2 front wheels?

- Or are there any safety issues if I just change the rotors and keeping everything else stock?

I know my car is not fast or powerful and don't need these brake upgrades, but I like the look =) and it does give better braking then that is even better.

Just want to find out, any advice will be much appreciated =) thanks guys!

No problem. Some people track with this setup on E46 with no issues.

Not too sure for E90. Plenty for E46.

Up to you. No issue either way.

Nope. Plenty of E46 people doing this.

Hi CBS and Wilman2772,

Thanks for the reply. That's helpful. Now I need to find out if there are any aftermarket brake rotors available for my car, and the cost to see if its worth it.

Oh Wilman2772, I think saw one of your thread on steel braided brakelines? for E90 320i? Can you please PM me the price if you have them, I want to consider that too?

BTW I may have seen you guys around at BVO. Great rides you guys have! Will identify myself next time and have kopi haha =).

thanks

big brakes......for front and rear.......6pot front and 4 pot rear....u can consider wilwood for e90 320i......

it is much chaper than brembo, stoptech.....

pm wilson..think he got lobang to this.....

Re: Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors For E90 320i?

Hi Como, oh Wilwood, yeah thanks! will check.

I am only looking at rotors though. Anyway I dont know how much these upgrades cost, so if its not too much then I may consider calipers too, but if its like way above what I have in mind then maybe will put it till later =)

if you want bigger rotors i think youre gonna have to get new calipers...

Re: Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors For E90 320i?

Ya, I agree with Kurqa, I think you need to change calipers if you want bigger rotors. From my enquiries, Stoptech does not have a kit for e90 yet and the Brembos go for almost 6K for 4 pot fronts only.

Re: Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors For E90 320i?

Hi Kurqa and Sting..Thanks! Yeah I am not sure also on if I need to change calipers too, but its of'cos ideal to upgrade both =) . Its just a tot cos I really like the sports type rotors. Anyway I will check and read up more.

And yeah the Brembos at 6K for 4 pot is way to expensive. Dont think I will spend the $$ as my car is not that fast! or I dont go to the track..for now with $6K I can do alot more =)

BTW, I've ordered the braided brakelines from Wilman2772 =) ...

Re: Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors For E90 320i?

hey silver,

you mentioned your rims make your rotors look small...if you just want the sports rotors look (crossdrilled or slotted or both), it means keeping to the same rotor size. but then you havent solved the problem coz the brakes will still look small..!

if you want bigger rotors, regardless the design, you need to get bigger calipers...there's no other option..

Re: Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors For E90 320i?

Hmm...noted thanks. OK then no point already, unless I can change bigger rotors without changing the calipers. So well, will save the money for something else then =) or if I ever decide to change the entire braking system.
