Chrome rim repairs

Dear all,

Can anyone advice which shop locally does restore chrome rims? Hit a kerb this afternoon.

Try Yew Lip, SouthEast, or Hurry. Some forumers have tried them on repairing chrome lips. However, check with them if they sand down to even out instead of puttying the kerb.

Hi Thanks very much for the advice. I know Hurry, the one alot Bt timah one right?

Can you advice where and tel for Yew Lip and South East? I know most of them only sand down and try polish back the chrome. U know where they can use spray for the affected part?

Best to check with Angie from Yew Lip, although I am not so sure if she is still keen on rim repair nowadays, owing to the backlogs of spraypainting jobs. Check her contact in the Link & Resources folder.

South East sands down the entire edge around the rim to make it look even. Thereafter buffs the edge to shine it up. The issue is that the aluminium is exposed and after a while (1-2months) the surface becomes dull again. The chrome surface that comes on your rim is actually either chromed plated or lacquered polished aluminium.

IMHO, if you got a minor rash, get a fine needle file to remove the rough edges and use some 1500grit sandpaper to wet sand the area. To finish off, apply lacquer to the area with a brush. Use the Pylox can and spray into the cover.

most rim shops just sand down and polish.... i dont think yew lip can do it if the finish is chrome.... try leong seng the last time my friend's chrome rim got scratched..they did a perfect job

Hi all thank you for all the wonderful help, went to hurry, seems like no one can help bcos mine is super chrome plated, if sand down cannot restore the chrome later, must chrome the whole rim again. Damn unlucky.

Will go spray chrome on the affected part and rest the matter liao....

Check with South East. Ah Meng has done a restoration on fellow forumer SL2's Hamann PGII, which has a chrome-plated lip as well. Not the sanding method.
