The number of vehicles that turned turtle seemed to be on the rise again.
Citizen-journalism portal STOMP has received an increased number of pictures of such vehicles recently.

Most vehicles were cars, with the occasional taxi. Many of the accidents occured on roads with a few on expressways. In one extreme case, a car flipped over in a carpark. One wonders what speed the vehicle was travelling at!

Cars turned turtle due to a combination of three factors: vehicle size, centre of gravity and most importantly, speed.

When cars go too fast and suddenly undergo a change in direction, such as hitting a kerb or the driver turning the steering wheel. the car will lose balance. The driver will lose control and the car will flip over.

In such instances, cars with higher centre of gravity are more likely to flip over than normal saloons, which are much lower in terms of height.

Drivers of small cars also risk flipping their cars over if they go too fast, reason being that such cars are lighter.

Ultimately it does not matter whether a vehicle has a higher propensity to turn turtle.
The key to a safe drive is the driver's thorough understanding of his or her vehicle.

Unless you are driving a sports car, sudden changes in direction are unsafe to a different extent or different vehicles.

Once you know the limits of your vehicle, you will be less likely to push over and beyond them.
