Car Body Value

Hi,

I'm thinking of scrapping my car in the next 2 months. Details as follows :

Model : 320i (Facelifted 2.2L)
Registration : June 2002
Year of Manufacture : 2002
Colour : Orient Blue
Mileage : 98,000 kms.

Does anybody know what is a fair value for the body ? Any recommendations of reliable exporters ?

Also, can someone enlighten me about this 4% comission ? Appears that it has to be paid even if I de-register the car myself (something about transferring the paper) ?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Car Body Value

I know of one exporter. Can give him a call. Steven 91190909

Re: Car Body Value

For a 2003 E46 320i, I got quotes ranging from 16k to 22k. Some have told me that 318i are easier to export because lower cc, hence attracts lower taxes.

Anyone else heard similiar?

Re: Car Body Value

4% commision is to convert the paper value to cash. You can save on that if you are buying a new car, as you can than take back the paper to use it to offsete your new car's taxes. The reason is because there are too many papers, hence the 4%, can go up to as high as 7% at times.

Re: Car Body Value

Guys,

I'm thinking of scrapping my ride soon and getting as an interim car, a used bimmer. I've searched and have a better understanding of the subject now esp after reading Nuke's excellent posts!

However, I still have a few questions and would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me on the following:

1. Given that LTA does not rebate cash on the paper value, how do I repay the balance on my bank loan after scrapping the car? Presumably I have to approach a car dealer/broker etc to monetize the paper value?
2. What is the broker's cut on this? I've read 4-7%. What's the current rate assuming the following scenarios:
a. I buy a used car from a 2nd hand dealer and he does the paperwork etc. (I'm guessing he should get less since I'm buying a car from him?)
b. I buy directly from another owner (I guess I will have to scrap the car on my own/thru a broker)
3. I understand I will also receive a pro-rated amt of the COE paid for my car as part of the total paper value. How do I make use of that value if I'm NOT buying a new car?

Many thanks.

Cheers,
B

Current Cut is 2% of paper value

You need to settle the loan 1st to get the log card to scrap the car. if u get a dealer there will be an admin fee to cover the loan amt

check on onemotoring, com.sg for paper value, you need to sell the paper to a dealer who will buy at discounted rate

Re: Car Body Value

Just curious how much will you ask for, if someone going to buy your ride?

Re: Car Body Value

Thanks guys for your responses.

FSD: Frankly, I haven't done too much research on this as I didn't think anyone would be interested to buy my ride given it's fast approaching the 5th year. But I would expect at least my full paper value given that it will be what I will get for scrapping.

Cheers,
B
