Jialat la, I post so many tips u never clarify, but ask me what is AKM

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Wah Liao. BMW design the locking system so that if you use the key button to lock the car, it goes straight to dead bolt. That means that the door release handle inside the cabin is disconnected from the lock itself. So if a thief chooses to break the glass, the door will never open. You can program the car to unbolt from the inside with the door unlock button but that makes the dead bolt function redundant.

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

so hi tech ah.. then break glass can cable start the engine?

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Cannot. The switch is electronic and there is alot of security information passed around between the DME and CAS before a start is allowed. Each start generates a security code which is rolling. Gone are the "gone in 60sec" methods.

bmw 1M can be started by hacking thru OBD port in less than 3mins :D

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Yup, thanks for your method. So the big door open/close button replaces the dedicated boot open button

Huh finally u post, at least now people know I can be serious and that certain cars really don't have boot unlock button!

Let me check my manual later and see if its intention is to "replace" the boot open button.

Yup, heard about those methods too. But it's not the older methods of breaking the lock cylinder kind. The dead bolt is just meant to prevent petty theft where they smash glass to open door and take stuff. So with electronic means, the guy must already be in the vicinity for more time.

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

mmm.. mine got a open-boot function, just next to the door hinge.. :D

Bro, yrs which model / year?

My e85 2008 model have all the above functions leh.. the boot release button is next to the bonnet release lever..

The door unlock button is next to the hazard light button.

Also, when i lock using the remote key inside the car, I still can unlock by pulling the door handle twice or pressing the unlock button near the hand brake

Yup... Same here... got the button above and pulling twice unlocks the door
