That does not explain why they need a PAP MP to defend Kong Hee.

actually I think and guess its to show that its NOT the "government" who is whacking them (as in CHC)...

To have a PAP MP lawyer to represent Kong Hee is to show that all are given equal chance to defend themselves and thus what better way than to pacify the members than to have a ruling party MP lawyer to act for the Head of CHC..

Possibly the members will feel..no government bias AGAINST them and with a PAP MP lawyer representing Kong Hee, then got "better" chance to air his defence fully than to have a non-partisan lawyer to act and be "obstructed" by the government...re M Ravi
