burning smell from air filter/intake outlet. whats wrong?

All seniors, seeking for help here. Does anyone know whats wrong?
Burning plastic smell from air filter area after car is driven hard.

nope, aircon circulates internally. i opened the bonnet and smelt it coming from the air filter/intake location actually.

I hard that issue too. I think it is normal since you mentioned your drove hard. I reckon hard as in your high rev in low gearings.

I dunno if it is coming from intake or air filter area but i do smell it in the car.
my old car also had the same smell when i rev hard. My friend's GTi more obvious when I drove it hard.

My intake filter dunno why dont have foam around it de. Just the paper and foam, dunno where the foam is haha

Went to a site sponsor, but they told me nothing wrong its normal. Another owner there told me they too many jobs on hand, dont want to waste time diagnosing for me.
Went to another site sponsor nearby, also full house.
Trying my luck for spme guru advice here

I was told the burning smell always occur when car is driven hard. That is due to the pedals being floored, large amt of fuel is injected into system but there are bound to have traces of incomplete carbon combustion.

on my f30 also no burning smell when driven hard.

thanks for sharing. i think likely is MAF sensor kaput already.
i had simultaneous problems with jerky acceleration and idle rpm.
OBD error shows exhaust code, workshop says likely air flow not ideal and therefore burning smell and also jerky acceleration.
oh well..

normal driving like no smell. the workshop ripped off the foam surrounding my air filter, saying air will flow in directly and supposedly correct the problem. the only difference is the air intake sounds louder =(

normal driving like no smell. the workshop ripped off the foam surrounding my air filter, saying air will flow in directly and supposedly correct the problem. the only difference is the air intake sounds louder =(

is it the brakes having that burning smell ?

my car has burning smell too if driven hard .... from the brakes.

weird though, never used to have this smell until recently.
