I was conned when I did my tyre changed in one of the tyre shop at Killiney road. The tyres came with stock 17'' rims and it cost me $1600. I realised the tyres were manufactured in year 2005 and 06.when I got my friend to check. I immediately went to change to non run RFT on monday. The ride now is superb.

I also changed my RE 050A runflats to the Sport Maxx TT few weeks ago, quite happy with them (see my impressions posted on another thread in this forum section). Paid $188 per piece for same tyre size as yours - 225/45/17

But for normal tires the nail in the tire could probably last 3 days max. Or it does not de-flate as fast as normal tires. This is also because of the walls inside the tires.
Tire shop guy told me to get non-RFT becuase the price difference is almost double but in Singapore, you have so many tire shops around and if anything were to happen to your tires, you can easier get the problem rectified or solved, and you obviously won't wait 3 days before you get your tire problem solved. Hence the need or incentive to get RFT isn't really there. I guess his arguement does make some sense.
Also, my experience with the Bridgestone re 050 rft, they don't hold grip in the wet very well especially when you aqua plan. So far I have driven almost 20,000ks and the noise level from the tires are getting louder and louder. I don't know will rotating the tires help. Any bros know?
My 2 cents.[/QUOT
let me correct your definition,Run flat tyre is made(stronger sidewall thus harder) to allow continue driving with max 80km/h and max 85km with low or Zero pressue(punctured) so those mentioned still can drive 3-5 days does not exist at all.
Replace back to Runflat is still a individual preference because RF tyre allows you to continue driving your car (with above condition) in the event of urgent use of your vehicle.
Can you imaging you see a flat tyre in the morning when you are driving to your work or school ,appointment?(even a expert tyreman still need at least 10 mins to change to your spare tyre) and do you carry a spare tyre with you in your car?
So you decide your NEED or WANT
yes rim designed for runflat tyre have some diff from normal rim.Jason8822;588435 said:+1
not all rims can use for runflat
but all rims suitable for runflat tires can use for normal tires
