brake condition

My car is a 318i E46. Can anyone tell me how would I know the brake is worn out or not? If I change Brake from other workshop, will the warranty be void?

Your brake pad warning sign will come on in your instrument cluster. It will stay lighted on till you replace your brake pad and sensor. Warrenty of brake system will be viod if you encounter problems like brake squeak or uneven wear. I.e. you can't claim anything from PML even if you replaced to original pads as it was not installed by PML.
