Personally, I'm very happy with the performance of my PS2s.. not so happy with the cost of 'em..

In comparision with the Goodyear F1 GSD3s, which I use on the Audi, I feel that, in the dry, the PS2s have a slight edge over the GSD3s.. whilst in the wet, the reverse is true and the GSD3s edge the PS2s..

Cost-wise and value-for-money-wise, the GSD3s wins..

My above views, are based on 'everyday driving', with the occasional 'playing'.. and need not be accurate for race or track use.. where depending on who you talk to, and based on dry conditions, some still swear by Bridgestone S03s or SO2As, whilst others swear by PZero Corsas..

In other words, much like depending on the situation and condition, which may be a better car.. the same can be said for which is a better tire..

Hope this helps..

cheers...

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

bro, personally i would go for ps2. i'm using it n its dam good, trust me. abt pirelli i'm not too sure bt another choice of mine would b dunlop sp 9000. look at the the cutting, juz love it n its dam good at wet condition...
cheers!!

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

hey

When i was buying my tyres I was also choosing between the Nero and PS2. Price wise PS2 is slightly more expensive, but I heard very good reviews(www.tirerack.com). Moreover I think PS2 can last longer than Nero or Goodyear F1 so it makes the extra cost worth it!

When u hv a good car, make sure u give her the best shoes too and seriously, look no further than Michelin PS2. It's the best Ultra High Performance street tires available today. In fact, it outperforms any other same class tires on the track too.

Forget bout Pirelli Nero on M3...not a favourite tires at all in the US M3 forum.
Most people's choices are : PS2 and Toyo T1-R ( too bad we dont hv it here )

I started off with CSC (M3 version) => SO3 ( great tires but bit hard & heavy ) => PS2 and no looking back...

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

I agree with Jack. I had CSC (stock), the worse!! than put on S03, good grip dry and wet, but heavy and ride a bit hard; changed to PS2 .... excellent trip, more quiet and comfortable than S03, no looking back.

On track however, I used PS Cup .... :)

Another thing about tyres for M3s, damm it's difficult to get the sizes you need; local distributors usually don't bring in/stock M3 sizes, so you are left with whatever brand tyres you can find at the time when you need them in a hurry. So, best is to shop and plan early.

wait, but if you think finding sizes are tough for M3s, the P car is even worse!!! :(

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

now for the second part of the question haha where to get the ps2's?? my pilot sports are worn out from the track...

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

Leong Seng and South East tires carry them.
For PS2, u probably need to deviate slightly from the factory specs as highlighted above.

U can go with 235/40 and 265/35 on stock 18 rims if they hv em. Else 235/35 and 265/30.

Look for Daniel at LS and Ah Meng at S.E
U can try Hurry Tires too off bt timah farrer flyover.

Omg Jack you sound like a Michelin spokesperson. Haha. Anyway yeah, PS2. :)

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

sei,

i'm using pirelli neros on the 7er. bad tires.. forget them. get the ps2s.

why need to deviate??

Coz PS2 doesnt make the factory tire specs of 225/45 for the front (only PS1, SO-3 and CSC do). As a result, u hv to settle with 225/40 or 235/40 for 18in.

And to combine with rear...
225/40 with 255/35

or

235/40 with 265/35

For 18in application.

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

hi guys...dont have an m3 but would like to raise a point...

wondering if anyone noticed on Tirerack that the PS2 is under the Max Performance category...which was the top category until a few months back that is...now there's a new more hardcore category called the Extreme performance and the yoko AD07 is tops...doesn't that mean it has trumped the PS2..? some advise anyone???

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

SEI, if you are on 19" you can go 245/35/19 and 275/30/19, that's what I was running (and I think Jack as well) on our CSL 19"... You can also try Chin-Seng-Hin (6861-6106) as they are the sole distributor for Michelin in Spore. But they will be slightly more ex than their dealers like SE and LS etc for obvious reasons.

kurqa, have not tried AD07, so sorry cannot comment. Perhaps those who have experience on the various brands can give their feedback.

Don't believe what Tire Rack says...

They even rated F1 GSD3 as best ultra high performance tires, beating SO-3, PS2...
That's a joke...and then GSD3 sale skyrocketed...

AD07 is a great tire for dry,...come to wet surface, it's like running on skidpan.

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

i guess Tirerack gets a good cut from goodyear then...!!!

so i gather the PS2 is the best all-rounder...perhaps a combination of AD07 in dry and F1 in wet..? have heard so much about the PS2 but the price is just out of reach...tried asking around for toyos but the few shops i went to said dont have =(

anyway thanks for the knowledge!

I like the idea of BMW way of staggering the rims set up, ie 30mm diff btwn front and back.

So u either go with 225/40 + 255/35
or
235/40 + 265/35

I'd recommend u just go with the first one for 18in set up which I think it's optimal given the 8J front and 9J rear.

U interested in 19in rims? I hv got one just perfect for your ride...mau nggak?

Re: Bmw M3 Best Tyre??

TripleM,

How much should I pay for PS 2 225/40 + 255/35? and from where?

I want to use it on my 4-door sports edition. I suppose the 225/40 + 255/35 setup is also ok for my ride???
