Re: BMW Advance Driving Course

true....
i mean if u r really rich and u have spare cash..i think 1k++ should not be a problem. But to many, this is quite a substantial amount lah..and given that you have to pay such a premium price, the catering cannot be no exception.

Honestly, when i heard that they ferry u up there in coaches..a bit no standard right? u pay 1k for a coach ride to the track in malaysia. i am not expecting us to be ferried in their cars but at least more ah tas type of coaches la.

i may be a foodie, but i eat whats provided. it wasnt gourmet, but the driving experience and instructions were awesome.

look forward to going to the next level.

i like your enthusiasm...but i do think it is costly.. :(
and if they are making it a one day course instead of the previous 2day 1 night and at a higher price..then not worth it lo

BMW Advance Driving Course

i understand from them that this course is not subsidised by the principal. so, its run on its own p&l basis. i think most of the fees cover the expenses of renting the whole tracks on weekends, the cafeteria premises, track insurance for the cars and drivers.... and staffing/event management. the transport is not exactly cheap as the coach is hired from singapore and requires special permits for it to be chartered overseas (yes, pasir gudang is overseas).

i have attended other track driving schools and no, catering isnt quite their strong points either. cant eat much either, else i will be doing interior redocorating of their cars with my lunch.

if you want to have good food and experience luxury, maybe best stick to their new model launches or promotions.

+1. Same thing when we go to a buffet, the carpark being dark and narrow is not really an issue right.

reeeally? $900++ for existing pml customer. the trainers are actually SAs at kg arang. 10 cars, 30 people... 2 trainers, 1 (or 2?) event organizer. thats for a turnover of around $30k on a single day event.

i'd like to see some p&l breakdown...

how much would a better coach (40 seater) and better food really cost? how about say RM100/pax food x 33 = RM3300? Or about SGD 1k...

the poor SAs work weekends as instructors without pay and allowances?

the 10 cars run without costs or track insurance?

the track is not free also.

to clarify, i dun work or have any interests in pml or the bmw performance driving program. i am only sharing my understand as a past participant.

why do you think you are entitled to review pml's p&l for these events? do you also ask your workshop, hawker, or any service provider for their numbers to judge if they have a right to charge what they charge? how interesting.

Re: BMW Advance Driving Course

I went for it aspart of the 7PP+ program, learnt heaps (of course, promptly repaid the lessons with interest within a few months - how to drive properly in Singapore traffic!?) and enjoyed the day.

Frankly, I agree with Meek - food wasn't great, but I really wasn't there for the food. Felt great gunning the begeesus out of the cars! And oh yes, killing them cones.

But after eating the food,my group had stomach ache...how to even enjoy from the start when all we did was looking for toilet...there were alot of flies...perhaps people complained that's why it's better?

I didn't say they (the SAs) have to/will work for free, but with a $30k or so turnover for the day I don't think they are tight on budget for something that makes the whole event a lot more enjoyable, something as simple as BUS and FOOD. Considering we all woke up at 5+am for an event that lasts all the way till 6+pm across the causeway; the BUS was terribly uncomfortable.

And mind you the cars - although provided for the event - are also being reused for other events and possibly as display/test drive/loaners for PML. So i don't totally believe when you say the principal does not contribute to this at all.

I am not here to judge their P&L. I was just providing honest feedback, and why I did not consider going for the next session.

I think the event itself was decent, not fantastic. 30 people was quite a big group to go around. All of us definitely had fun and learnt stuff, just IMHO not worth the amount. I could justify maybe $600-700 bucks, but not $1,000.

You have to look at the past event pricing before making judgement.

Also I think I had more fun at the free event @ Changi.

Nowadays people can just spend thousands of dollars on, say, a Prada handbag. I know $1k is like "just another air ticket" or "just another handbag for the wife", but seriously I had higher expectations - especially after attending the free event @ Changi.

If assuming you paid $1k for it, what would you say?

Re: BMW Advance Driving Course

Just a heads up the next level up "Intensive Driving Experience" is S$1540. One day event.

Used to be around the same price for a 2D1N thing.

Not that the fee is high, is the expectations high for the fee. I also didn't say it was not enjoyable. Just found it was cutting corners too much, especially the intensive course that got shrunk to a 1-day event. I dunno, maybe some family man would appreciate that. Fine... but price still the same?

Re: BMW Advance Driving Course

No Michelin Star standard I wouldn't go. Afterall, it is an advance dining course. I high class.

No, wait !!!

It's an advance DRIVING course !!! See how, I can choose not to go. But I know ADT is good.

Re: BMW Advance Driving Course

They should make this course compulsory for all BMW owners. You got money to buy BMW, jolly well go take up this course and drive ur BMW to its fullest potential. Bring own sandwiches
