BMW computer now takes into account the age of battery and charges accordingly. Possibly when you replaced the battery the system was not updated to highlight new battery. Therefore it was charging the new one as a old battery leading to this situation. In a normal case the I drive will highlight state of charge. Battery should easily last over 2 to 4 years in a stock car. Mpl or Munich should be able to to this when they change battery. Hope this helps.
