Hi all

Saw this low mileage but look poorly maintained 2010 730i for auction. Safe to try or stay clear?

Anyone with experience buying one before?

thanks

better stay clear unless u know how and where to look for defects.. auction cars come "as is"

Would they allow you to send it to a workshop to check ?

I dont about now but in the past, you cannot even go near and touch. You only see it from a locked compound. It may not even come with a key. As-Is. If you really want the car, it must come with a really rock-bottom bottom price.

Re: auction cars - stay clear or can consider?

Usually dealers bid n buy, then respray them or do abit of cosmetic touch ups to the car, simple servicing n then resell it with descriptions like "selling fast! One careful owner", "reluctant sale, executive owner posted overseas. Grab it fast!"

Hearsay need to pay cash first after bidding before you can refinance with bank, true?

Re: auction cars - stay clear or can consider?

The main factor is price, the other issue is the fact that most don't have keys so u can't check. But the reality is that a dealer will get the car.

Re: auction cars - stay clear or can consider?

How bad can it get for a car with 20+K mileage? Now if PML car that means the car is still under warranty based on its registration date.

If car does have keys surely we can get it replaced even if it has to be ordered from Germany.

I guess it may matter to know that the car's previous owner has bad luck with it. But maybe change colour and number plate will help.

But how low ball can one be and still win? Is $160-170K too low? Is there a register of past bids pattern that one can refer?

Jan 30th 11.00 pm is closing date. Can view at WCEGA too.

Poorly maintained 7 series. You is brave.

Re: auction cars - stay clear or can consider?

U need a lot of luck in such deals.

20K+ km mileage for 2-3 years sedan? I would like to think the mileage might be tempered

Re: auction cars - stay clear or can consider?

I am quite sure auction cars you have to pay in full. Some people avoid due to "bad luck". I suspect the mileage should be genuine since the previous owner wouldn't tamper with it before car is towed away?? Haha! But probably no money for servicing etc so that could be an issue?

Also some auction cars seem to be only open to dealers. I remember seeing them before. No idea why though.

If you can secure a good price (at $30k off maybe?) then maybe can take the plunge?

Just my 2 cents. :)

Re: auction cars - stay clear or can consider?

If a dealer get the car at low price, respray and ad like what MW mentioned
buyer lagi squeeze balls cos pay for auction car without knowing! might as well
auction yrselves, if car got problems then sell to dealer lor
