Asking for affordable and good Tires recommendation for E46 320

Hi experts,
Lately I have heard a lot of positive reviews on Hankook (RS-2, Evo etc) on Bimmers road test holding up very well against Michelins and GoodYear. There were also good reviews on Toyo T1R (not sure if that was tested on a bimmer). Basically they all seemed to have a well balanced good performance in wear, dry/wet grip, and even some decent levels of comfort and low noise. They are also relatively cheaper than the european makes. Best of all they all wear slower (compared to other makes of same class) and thus last longer

I personally just tried Hankook Ventus ME01 (I think) on a Impreza and found it extremely better compared to the last set of Goodyears but mileage not enough to see if the good performance tappers off soon. But overall very impressed particularly the low rolling resistance and yet still decent braking grip.

Anyone has any recommendation for my car based on reviews or your own use for these 2 makes? My staggered tires setup are:

Front 225/45/18
Rear 245/40/18
(I think so)

Thanks.

Hi Lance,

sounds good............value for $ tyres, based on the pricing....
should be front: 225/45/18 and rear: 255/40/18
or 225/40/18 and 255/35/18

cheers

Thanks for the correction, Alvin.

Have you any friends who have used the RS-2 personally on a staggered setup?

Re: Asking for affordable and good Tires recommendation for E46 320

I am closing this thread as i just made a decision today to purchase a staggered set of Hankook V12 Evos.....after my car ran over a stupid (square cross section!!) wooden log dropped by some idiot on the AYE. That accident warped my 2 left Ultraleggara rims, punctured their tires, broke the left front lower control arm bushing, and left me with a big hole in my pocket. Another car and a bike was also affected. LTA and TP really need to do something about this as before this i already had quite a few near misses on the expressways.

I just got back after R2d fixed my control arm bushings (dont you just love Rod for being the only mechanic working at night which is a godsend for most of us?), but the ride was great. grip is slightly less than my previous F1 Assyms (but still good) but quieter. Overall very good for me considering the price.

Of course they are brand new so will see how they perform after a period of run-in.

For some reasons Hankook did not have the 255/35/18 S1 Evos in stock which was why i chose V12.

Please give us some update after your tyres run in. I am also considering V12 or S1 Evo for my next set of tyres.
