Appreciate advice from all BMW expert

Hi all,

Need some advice from all the BMW expert. I'm considering to buy new 320i or 1 year old 520i ( new model ) ?
The budget for both almost the same around SGD 140-150K. According some of my friends 520i is underpower, however it is come with the active streering.
Please kindly advice which one is worthed to buy considering the machine, etc since this will be my first car.

Both the E90 and E60 from far looks the same to me.

If you decide to get an E60, might want to consider whether will there be a facelift soon since E90 just come out this year.

If power is your major consideration, I will not go for either of the 2 cars basing on your budget.

These are 2 quite different cars. Do u need space?

I am not sure abt the new 3 series but the 520i has its bugs. I won't recommend the 520i ... too many horror stories I heard first hand from a owner. Stay away from that.

Yep..one of them is the auto downshift problem when slowing down to ard 30kmh...
Was recently told by the workshop mgr at PML....
Also, the gearbox allows the car to reach gear6 when u r running at 70kmh....

Hence the new launch of 523..

Both the E90 and E60 from far looks the same to me.

Agree... IMHO, both also underpower. Difference is u can hear one engine noise more than the other.

quite frankly with the launch of the 523 the market for the 520 is not that great, quite a number in the market n not moving, my advice is that if you can wait a few months there will be a few 523 in the market for sale than u can make a decision, basically the 520 price will drop further, but the best buy would be a 523, cheers.

So, are you guys saying better to avoid 520i ? Actually, I really like the model of 520i...sigh !
What about 523 i then ? If I can strech my budget, should I consider this model or....????

Yah, avoid 520i if you can. Go for a new 523i if the budget permits. Shd be between $175k to $180k. Even a used 1 yr old 525i (the one with 192bhp and not 218bhp) is asking for $170k or more. So a brand new 523i does make sense. But it is 177bhp though. Can be tuned up but that is a separate issue. U may not want to or need to if u are content with the power.

More power is always good to have but do u need it? just go for the 523iA. no need to get 525 after all the current 525 has better options so when u decide to sell ur 2nd hand 525 in about 2 yrs u will be competing with the cheaper 525 with better specs. cheers
