Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

Lots been talked about the Z-Stab in the past. Price were too high for continental cars and the red box did not work.

Recently visited their website again. Dr Jon claimed that partner screwed his customers and they have parted ways.:argue: He is now selling a new box at $90, suitable for all models. I have tried his earlier prototypes on my Camry before and I was satisfied with the result. Jsut wanted to check if any bimmers have experience with the new EZ-Stab before I install one in my E90.

$90 is not much to explore and don't want to fry any electronics in my new car. Anyone have experience to share? Thanks.

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

Kai, still waiting for Jon (the PHD inventor) to call me back. He mentioned that a 'special' unit will be built for BMW. So far its been 2 weeks. He had fitted the his gaget on a 5 series before, see install pictures from his wedsite. Was hoping that the owner is a member here so that he/she can share experience. Anyway, once I have try it out, I will post my feedback. cheers.

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

tried the 2nd gen zstab on my prev jap car, felt throttle response was slightly better...and thats about it...but after a while juz got used to it...
very marginal improvement...if any...

took it out when i sold my car...didnt feel the car got worse...

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

finally installed the ez-stab in my ride last night. as promised, the car feels lighter and I was able to get to the desire crusing speed faster and with ease. looks promising and certainly enjoyed the drive this morning. can't tell much about full throttle performance until I have the clear road to push it and will have to wait a while to see if there will be fuel saving or not. so far so good and its only 90 bucks with installation (by the PHD himself).

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

I also have the ez-stab installed into my ride last Wednesday. The first thing i notice after installing was the drop in idling RPM. It indeed makes the car feel lighter, basically thats all. When fixing the ez-stab, make sure you get the PHD to fix it himself. Mine was fixed by his friend, which is a taxi driver and he is quite rough when installing it into the car.. I think he almost break the catches of tray above the battery.

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

hi xuexun
whats your idling rpm now?

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

it use to be around 800, now its closer to 700rpm. And with the aircon off, its just a little above the 500mark which should be around 600rpm

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

i was a victim of jons parner and must say he went out all the way to ensure my new set i got was good. he installed it for me 2 days back and i must say the redlining for my engine is far more smooth before transitioning into next gear. sound also has improved clarity and somehow the engine note is abit different. its more revvy...

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

Ez-stab not so great after all. Just finish a full tank of shell 98 and I clocked 665 km. That about 20-30 Km more than usual. FC seems to have improve but note that the roads are less congested coz its school holidays may be a contributing factor.

The 320i is certainly more responsive and more eager to go, too eager sometimes. Was in the middle lane at a traffic stop along Hougang this afternoon, Mazda on my left and Camry on my right. Clear road ahead. Green light and I gracefully leave the others behind. Can hardly hear the engine working and I was already at 80 kmph with a few tap at the steptronic gearshift. Was smiling until I saw the ugly site of a TP on the overhead bridge - with their new toy. Guess I will find out the speed limit of that road in a week or 2.

If its 50km/h, I am dead meat. Black Bimmer leading the line after the traffic light, I am quite sure his lens is not focussing on the Camry. Will see in a week or 2, hope that you are right.

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

Hi yo bros here!! Seem like the EZ-Stab is quite impressive. Where can i get the thing and who is PDH or whatsoever?

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

Nickypower,

http://www.ez-stab.com/ You should find all your answers at this website. The device is quite decent considering the price (think its still is S$80 plus installation). But it will not turn your ride into a M3 like the "Trottle Body Thingy". Cheers.

Yo motofish... the road is it from Ave 3 heading towards AMK and stadium on the right?
If that's the road it's 70km/h road if i m not wrong, so if it's 70 u going at 80 no poblem liao

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

NickyPower, touch wood, so far so good, still no news from TP yet so I guess I am ok. There were so many TP around during the holidays that I am now very easy on the right foot. I am also having second thoughs about driving in Malaysia with all the hijacks and day light robberies. So I guess I have to do my driving on the PS2 till they built the track in Tuas :(

Re: Anyone tried new EZ-Stab?

Fitted the Z-stab ( black box, not red ) into my car two days ago. Initial feel was that the engine feels smoother and appears to accelerate abit faster at low end. However, this is difficult to really confirm as the rabid nature of the car brought on by the throttle booster device that I have fitted some time ago may mask any small power gains. The hifi also sounded clearer and has more depth. No change in idling speed.
