Hi everyone,
May I know of there's anyone on Koni's adjustable shocks, commonly known as Koni Yellow?
KONI Adjustable Front and Rear Shocks/Struts for BMW E90/E92 3-Series

I would like to hear any kind of feedback and the kind of spring that u have used to match the shocks (H&R sport or race/Eibach Pro, etc).
Many thanks in advance for advice.

Re: Anyone on Koni Adjustable Shocks?

M-Sport better.

Coilover Best.

Re: Anyone on Koni Adjustable Shocks?

IMHO, x brand spring + y brand shock setup works on best guesstimate to match them
whereas coilover is developed with truly r&d for its product
i have used spring + shock before and no matter what brand i try to match, it just don't feel perfect. some say about the spring rate does not match the damper rate.why not go with coilover where the spring and shock are r&d together to ensure they work best in pair. and the best is you can adjust the height which spring+shock combo cannot match. price wise, coilover setup would be slightly expensive but not far fetch unless you go for super ex and high end coilover.

Hmm.. but wouldn't the stock shocks+springs be properly matched? If so changing the shocks without carefully matching with the springs might result in worse performance?

I think coilovers are still best. :) Can't wait for mine to come in.

Re: Anyone on Koni Adjustable Shocks?

robot u change exos so many issue... now want change coilover wait u ask more question.

why now she still faint?

Re: Anyone on Koni Adjustable Shocks?

Fitted with Koni yellow before. It's very hard. Wife says can feel every grain of sand on the floor o_O

Mine was matched with stock spring (yes, stock... zzzz) Ride was firm even set to the softest. You can take and test it if u want.. hahaha... sitting in my store. No leaks. Oh, I only have the front. kekeke...

PS: This setup is not by me... hehehe. But I tried even more kuku setup before... dun ask... it's just kuku. Now ride is on old B8 with lowered spring going to install KWv1 soon. Hehehe...

KWv1~! just had them installed. not as harst as expected for a coilover that's only heigh adjustable. Ride is solid, corner handling is great~!... hehe. Wife also say... eh how come ur car feels more stable?

Oh only one complaint... it's a bit hard over bumps... especially down the bump...

Re: Anyone on Koni Adjustable Shocks?

robot: i'm not on koni yellow but koni FSD with H&R so i'm not sure if you'll find this useful but the current setup beats the previous mtech + H&R springs setup i had in terms of handling and comfort (h&r arb was used with both setups). i find the ride height just nice as well, no rubbing with the default wheel alignment.

Re: Anyone on Koni Adjustable Shocks?

Yo everyone, thanks for giving me good advices.

acupunch, thanks and I will check out M-sport's pricing and how much it lowers the car :)

wi_know, I am also seriously considering coilovers......KW v2 is my choice, but $$$ no enough :chinese: Let me do my maths a bit first ....

Alvin, PM you on KW v3 (although I doubt my pocket allows it, but no harm asking. Asking is free, ac323 say one )

pbear, ya you are right, different matches between shocks & springs have different results.
It's like iscoupe look so big size but kkj damn small, totally cannot match and spoil image also.
btw, what coils are you getting?

ross, you are right that KW v1 is not harsh. Very comfortable actually.
I drove in 2 cars with KWv1 before, but forgot to try hard cornering heh heh, so not sure how is it like.....
For the negative part when it comes to bump, I'm quite used to it as I was previously on very hard (aka cheap) coilovers. :chinese:

Yo GearOSv2, yup, Koni yellow is hard as per the reviews I read on e90post. That's why I am thinking hard about it because Singapore roads nowadays really cannot make it with all the digging and extremely bad patching up.
Btw, thanks for offering. Difficult to test with only front, hee :chinese: But once you put on KW v1 confirm you wife can't even feel a big stone

You had forgotten how loud you screamed after ganna poke by my metal rod at club sandy. You said it's hard and shiok.

Yo nytremare, you make me feel very bad la. I just said you use 4L bottle as suspension :p
Koni FSD was one of my consideration too. But had my reservation after reading some reviews on e90post....not sure how true is it but it is regarding uncertainty of how the shocks will react....
Demod your H&R arb to me le.....

it's okay i will forgive your rusty make people faint tin can face. :lol2:

i guess because i was more concerned in terms of aesthetics (lowered look) and not too much on performance i never considered coilovers (too cheap to get a proper set also), but i'm happy with the reduced bodyroll and somewhat improved comfort of the fsds compared to mtechs. i figured out i'd never track the car, and i'm not about to go adjusting the shocks very often, it wasn't worth paying the premium for those.

when i get new car (if ever) i will demod. give you fainting price.

I'm getting the Weitec Hicon TX, height and damping adjustable! :D It's a cheaper version of KW and made by the same people, so should be reliable.
