Engine-wise ..... without any doubt, the 325i's M50 engine is something to die for.
Full case iron block and cylinder head.
They don't make such engines like they used to.
Can mod all you want without any fear of aluminium hydriding / embrittlement, which is the case of today's all-aluminium engine blocks. :verysad:
The M3's and M5's engine block is still cast iron. :evillook:
So are VW/Audi's TC engines - all grey cast iron. :twisted:
Enuf said about cast iron blocks ..... only the true performance models of each marque still retain them.

Current M3 and M5 run aluminium blocks as do many other top of the line engines. Close to all are moving away from cast iron in favour of better designed blocks that are lighter.

Hi abcd,
318is are mostly (M).but Auto abit had to find..................try sgcarmart....there's few unit if i am not wrong and 1 of them (black coupe) happen to be my ride 12.5 years ago........with full M3 kit.........
