Aircon Seems Stuffed

HI All,

I am experiencing this problem with my 318 prefl.

After a drive of about 100km/hr for 25 mins. The aircon vents within the cabin seem to have this "choked" problem and the air doenst seem to flow..

I need to switch on the FAN mode and then switch back to A/C to clear the problem and it lasts for a while before the problem comes back..

Has anyone experienced this before?

Bro,

You seem to have icing on the aircon evaporator unit. What happens is that there is not enough air to flow through your evaporator and ice forms on the coils blocking the flow of air.

What you can do is bring the car to PML or specialists air con shops in sin ming to clean out the fan blades and the evaporator coil to increase the flow of air. that should help a fair bit.

BTW, did you recently top up your air con gas?

HI Bro,

thanks for the advice.

Will check the points you mentioned.

Btw, is aircon gas the problem..

Usually, topping up air con gas is not the main problem but rather an action that causes other symptoms to flare up. An example is when your air con gas runs low, the evaporator coil does not get that cold as there is less liquified refigerant to evaporate into a gas to provide cooling. Thus the dust and algae builds up and over some time, the owner tops up the gas and suddenly, the coils is very cold and the algae and stuff start to freeze up when the compressor kicks in.

Good luck on your air con.

e46sg,

Check with PML or any workshop if the solar sensor is faulty.

i think it's the final stage resistor that is giving the problem based on the symptoms u have mentioned.

A typical problem for the pre FL 318.
