Hey fellow Bimmer heads and Gruppe M Valvetronic users!
I just wanted to get a few opinions regarding the Gruppe M intake. I just wanted to ask if any of you guys have bought or are considering the idea of having a spare K&N replacement filter for the Gruppe M intake. The Gruppe M intake I am going to have soon is the one for 4-pot valvetronic engines.
I have read in the E46 forums that there are some GruppeM users who have come across problems with the rubber seal of the filter. It seems that it tends to cause fitment problems because of the heat in the engine bay overtime. I wanted to ask you guys there in SG if any of you have encountered this type of problem.
I recently checked the pricing of the replacement filter and it costs around US$150! So its going to be an additional investment to an already expensive intake system...
Another issue i am worried about is that - will this system cause problems with the MAF through long-term usage? Some fellow BMW drivers who have installed K&N systems (non-GruppeM) are having MAF problems and are either running too rich or too lean.
Also just wanted to ask your cleaning habits for your GruppeM intakes, as this will be my first time to own a RAMAIR-type system on my car. I was previously using the drop-in panel types.
