Out of curiosity if you have no faith in the gov why would you want to take up Spore citizenship?

i knew the government will put a rope around PR and slowly tighten till they convert.
and also its in the best interest of my children, i dont want my children to be 2nd class malaysian citizens.
i hope in sg they are first class citizens, or maybe i am naive ?

They talked about infrastructure and being prepared for it, because that was what went wrong the last time.

There will be many other things that will go wrong, when it hits 6.5-6.9m. Things we are totally not prepared for.

I am just wondering....6.9M population target for 2030 is built on the analysis of more abled working persons needed to sustain a bigger group of old folks who are no longer able to contribute to the economy. Can't remember the ratio but I would imagine that if we need so many more coming in, wouldn't the same thing happen if this group aged in 20-30 yrs time? By then the quantum of gray folks will be even bigger rt? So the solution is to add 10M then?

Well, e current elite are just doing an easy and rich (for them) alternative without targetting at the root, along the lines of a Ponzi Demography. This is not sustainable and will ultimately crash... the larger it gets, the harder it will crash.

Come 2030, if we have 7m people but less than half is local born citizen,
how does the new instant citizens help Singapore?
More working Singaporeans will have to support their elderly folks.
Hospital beds may still be insufficient , A&E takes one day to be attended to.
Transportation over crowded, schools over crowded, jobs went to new citizens willing to accept lower salaries, etc.
I can't think of better scenarios.

I fear it's not just a lack of foresight but also a total absence of insight into the fears and concerns of the everyday man on the street.

And, ultimately, on hindsight, history may yet judge these clowns to be totally clueless, utterly heartless and instead of whatever foresight, they were merely and completely short-sighted.

To be fair they have stated what they plan to do, if u agree vote for them or if u don't agree vote for opposition. Bottomline is you have a choice, decide what you want for your future. There is no point making noise because for every issue we raise they have prepared answers.

Just wondering, this forum has lots of ppl who would be in the top 10% of their profession( with the exception of MW - top 1%) how many of you guys were involved in the "singapore conversation"

This is so true. By 2020 or 2030, the TRF still below 2.1, then we need more population to support the higher greying numbers and sustain economic growth.

So now they must resolve the TRF numbers. In fact the later they do it, the costlier it would be. If free child care till 7 year old, many couples would not hesitate to have babies or second or third one.

The new neighbour is at the empty land next to Kallang MRT. 3 block of 30 storey HDB. I would like to canoe to office.

My thinking is out of the 6.9M there are at least 2M non citizens/PR that do not have resident status and this group is here to contribute to the economy and help support the aging population. It will only work if at the end of their productive years they will return back to their own countries.. Else your points make sense..
