If you’re looking for a car UV protection or have already installed a car solar film, the next thing that you probably have in mind is how to protect and make your investment last longer. With this, what you do in the next couple of days after the installation of tint on your car windows is crucial. Although the car tinting job is done by a professional of a trusted car window film company, like Infratint, there are still some things that must be done in order to ensure a good window tint experience.

1. Don’t be bothered by the window tint bubbles patient

Some people, especially those who are new with window tinting, may jump to the conclusion that they had a bad window tinting job once they notice dreaded air bubbles trapped in window film. Before you correlate the bubbles to a faulty installation, it is important to know that it is not always a bad sign. In fact, seeing tiny bubbles forming underneath the window film is normal for the first few days after getting a car tinting job. This is more likely to be caused by moisture, which will eventually evaporate within a couple of days. Take note that the bubbles might stay in window film for at least four days depending on climate.

2. Skip washing your car

One of the things that might go running in your head after getting a car window film is when can you wash your car. Although window film is applied to the inside of the car, which prevents the film from getting damaged by the flying debris, dirt or mud, it is important to know that washing your car right after a window tint job is not a good idea. This is because the water used in washing your car may add moisture in the window film, which can slow down the curing process. In order to make sure you’re not doing something that may ruin your automotive window film, better skip car washing until the tint has totally cured.

3. Wait for the tint to completely dry

As mentioned earlier, window film undergoes a curing process, which can take between seven (7) to 30 days, depending on climate. In spite of the fact that you can have a window film application either on hot or rainy days, some may want to ask about the perfect time where they don’t have to wait for a long time to complete the curing process. With that, take note that window tint cure times are shorter during the hot season than in rainy season, which can take for as long as a month.

4. Keep your car windows rolled up

While you may get to enjoy the instant benefits of car window film right after the installation, take in mind that the adhesive that affixes the film to the glass does not immediately cure, which is why you have to keep your car windows rolled up. Doing so is akin to preventing the tint to peel off.

5. Avoid scratching the film

Not because the staff at the window tinting company states that the automotive window film they offer is scratch-resistant does not already mean it is scratch-proof. Never assume tint is indestructible, although it has a high-quality scratch-resistant coating that helps to protect your car windows from everyday use. What seems to be a little and unintentional scratch of kid’s fingers and pet’s paws can be the start of window film damage.

BONUS… Here are some tips as to how you can spot a bad tint

  • Given that most window film companies these days use computerized templates that pre-cut the film according to the size of the car windows, good tint can be easily determined if the window film has small, clean edges. If your window film has a significant gap, it is more likely a poor tint job.
  • A window film that turns purple over time is a sign that it is made of the most basic quality, a vinyl sheet with dyes. In order to make sure the film you’re about to install on your car windows is of high-quality materials, don’t hesitate to contact Infratint!
  • Seeing tiny bubbles trapped in your car window film is normal after having a brand new car window film is normal. However, the appearance of tiny bubbles as early as six months can be a sign of a low-quality tint.
