420i vs 430i

Hi guys, just looking for a bit of advice. I'm looking to purchase the 420i or 430i convertible, like to find out a bit more.
I understand that the 420 and 430 are running the same engine. Does this mean that the 430 is simply a tuned up version of the 420? Would it make sense to buy a 420 and tune it up to match the performance of a 430 then?

Also anyone had any mechanical issues with the convertible top motors before?

yes you can tune it.....but dont think is so easy to tune to match 430i power

Its not as simple as a tune as some say.

430i will have uprated intercooler etc. IIRC, the cams are different too.
