318 or 320

Dear All,

Appreciate any comments/ opinions that will help me in my decision:

Have been checking out used BMWs and it now down to 2:

A late2001 318ia with one owner or a late 2002 320ia with 2 owners.

Have down my maths and assuming all else equivalent, which would be a better choice?

Will be test driving both this weekend to finalise...(hopefully) what should i be looking out for. ( am a new driver so drving skills not there yet... can't tell much)

Take the 320. The 318 is a 4-potter with the old engine (115bhp). Nothing beats the BMW in-line 6.

Huh? Can't be pro over a non valvetronic 4 pot instead a M54 6 potter? Dont mislead ppl la; hor?

get the 320... and since it is 2 owners liao, knock the price really low, close to paper + a bit of body... cos you will be selling it at paper only since you will be 3rd owner...

Buy on condition, not number of owners. Well maintained high mileage cars with full service history, lots of receipts/documentation will be a safer bet than low mileage, patchy maintenance, even if it's one owner.

But all things being equal, think you should go for the 320i. Lovely engine, but be mindful of the fuel consumption...
