Hi pals,

I wonder if anyone here is riding on 18" Goodyear RevspecII RS-02. I would like to check how is its performance, wet/dry as well as noise. I am riding on 16" (225/50/16) and love it very much. However, it might be different for 18" (say 235/40/18).

I am considering either Sport Maxx or Revspec RS-02. My friend's experience for Sport Maxx is that it is perfect before 12,000km where it will get noisy after that.

Cheers!

I used a set of Goodyear Revspec 17" a couple of years ago. Like you, I loved that set of tyres. However I think it did wear prematurely. Believe I got something like 20k out of it before there were some bald spots. It could be due to my suspension though, cause the tyre also showed uneven wear.

I also did hear similar comments on SportMaxx's noise build up after 10 to 15k. I'm currently looking for tyres as well and currently looking at Yokohama V550. There is no stock for my tyre size for revspec II :(

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I am doing alomst 40K for my current 16" though and it is my second set of Revspec ver 1. I have not tried or heard any one tried the ver 2 though but expect to be better that the older version. As it is a pretty rare tyre used here, I m not sure how the perfromance on 18" since 16" and 18" can be a world of different.

Well, keep in touch and lets share what we know.

If you do a search on this forum, there are a few guys here who use revspec. They all seem to enjoy this tyre. Given it's high user satisfaction level, I'm pretty surprised that it's not better known.

Well, it seems that its not an "international" model. Its design and made in Japan. I think only one shop is bringing in this tyre, little $ were spent on advertising also. That's what not many shop carrying them and hence few people get to know about it.

It a perfect comfort/performance tyre from my experience.

I am running on 18" Goodyear RevspecII RS-02 on my Merc E-Class. This tyre is suitable for those people who are looking for a compromise between high performance and comfort. I went for this tyre for my Merc because it is used as a family car and I do not need high performance grip and speed rating. The tyre performs well on higher speed cruising on the NS.

After 15,000 on the tyre, the grip is still good and the noise level is still good.

I cruised my E-Class Merc with Revspec on the NS to 180 kmh. Very stable. No problem.

The size of tyre that I need to instal on my AMG rims is quite unusual. It's 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 (I forgot which already). At first, I wanted to try Dunlop Sportsmaxx but it didn't come in the size I need. So, I didn't have a lot of choices. Goodyear F1 GSD3 did come in the correct size but I tried that already and it really gets noisy after 20,000 kms (but wet handling is really good though). So, 4 pieces of 18" Goodyear Revspec II RS-02 tyres at approx $1,200 is quite good value, I reckon.
