hi folks

the new m3 will be 3000cc or 3300cc ?
if 3000cc than road tax will be cheaper by $1300.
i think turbo more suitable for our congested roads

handling will be better ? cause they have a wider track width ?
and also lighter cause engine smaller ?

i hope it will be the best of them all.
cause i am saving up for the car.

Re: will the new M3 be the best of them all ?

I think it will be...lighter and more powerful..like u said..wider track..helps...

turbo or not...it will be better, faster but like new M5 and M6, ride will be more refined and comfortable too.

But it will still fall short aga 911s, GTRs in overall performance as always..M3s always there but not there if you know wat i mean...

ehh?

why do you say turbo cars suit congested singapore roads more leh? lol its a lot harder to overtake or pick up speed as and when you need it especially if you are new to TC..

Because the new TC N54B30 and N55B30 engines push out 450Nm of torque from 1300-4500rpm!!! Overtakes like a rocket on ecstasy!

NA still the best. Turbo unlikely to be classic.

HMM.

Maybe cause the dynamics of the turbo i use is entirely different.

I have more than 450nm torque... But it lags. Maybe cause i don't have a set of twin turbo :p ...
Just one fat sluggish turbo! Which is why i say its difficult to overtake and pick up speed!

Re: will the new M3 be the best of them all ?

The E46 M3 CSL will be the best of them all......

The current 4L V8 will be the last of the Mohicans.

mate, wht car u drivin?
my other ride has 3xsize of stock turbo w/very minimal lag even on hot days.
perhaps can offer u advice.

Re: will the new M3 be the best of them all ?

maybe his turbo too big for the cc, cannot spool.

get a garret ball bearing one, fast spool..

Re: will the new M3 be the best of them all ?

the current m3 GTS or CRT can trump the CSL,
CSL is very light, but gearbox and hp not enough..

looks factor also...

Nordschleife lap records - FastestLaps.com

I gave CSL lots of respect cause the GTS "trumped" the CSL by only 2 seconds on the Ring !!!

Re: will the new M3 be the best of them all ?

the hot weather really plays a big part here. oh and its probably my tune :/

already running an Owen's turbo but I've yet to tune. I'll have to monitor!

first of all, my apologies for OT on a m3 thread.

mate,
change turbo means you most probably have a bigger turbo which means more air and fuel being required = tuning required or better still have it dyno tuned.
oso, stock downpipes are limited + bigger intercooler needed.
judging from your avatar, plse correct me but i judge you could be driving an audi with either the 1.8TFsi or 2.0TFsi. do you have a bigger intercooler fitted?
if yes, was the stock one removed or disconnected?
reason why i am asking cos on the golf gti the intercooler (very small) is connected to the radiator and removing it means the radiator is unable to be properly mounted.
the only way to get around this is to mount the new and bigger intercooler in front and below the radiator with separate brackets.
then, disconnect and seal off the stock intercooler and run the connecting pipes directly to the new intercooler.
this would reduce lag and ensure quicker spooling of the new turbo.
recommend to have downpipes (heat wrapped to dissipate heat further down the exhaust system + free-flow exhaust + better breathing air-intake eg. neuspeed power flow or dbilas.
to go more radical = bigger fuel-pump + bigger injectors + head job + revised manifold + diverter valve + higher heat tolerance plugs.
