Whats the method of resetting ECU?

Guys, i heard or saw once that just with the keys to the car, you can sort of like reset the ECU...something like 20 sec in the ON turn....and 10 sec on the off turn...then start.....

Is it true or is there a more correct method?

remove the batt connector for 5 mins.
ECU resetted.
