What can kids do in Cameron Highlands?

Hello,

I am thinking of driving up to Cameron in March (school holidays) for 3D2N. Thinking of picking weekdays to avoid traffic.

Can anyone help me to figure out what are the activities in the area to keep my 8 years old daughter occupied?

I noticed that many hotels don't have swimming pools, is that because it is normally cold up there?

Anyone can recommend a hotel with some kids-activity?

Thanks for any feedback

bee farm, pick strawberries, play golf (never too young to learn), eat steamboat.

Re: What can kids do in Cameron Highlands?

Have your 8 years old seen or done .....

Real strawberries, cabbage, carrots whilst it is still attached to the plant ?
How watercress is planted ?
Eaten raw honey (still in a comb) ?
Eaten raw maize on a cob ?
How tea is planted ?
Had high tea with clouds floating in ?
Drink from a coconut (looks like a coconut) but had jello-like jelly - which you cannot find it here in Singapore ?
Eat durians by the road-side ?

You can do all these there.....

With due respects - why bring her there to swim ?

By the way - the golf course was under major repair ( totally unplayable ) as of 3 weeks ago

Horse/Pony riding... The training field is huge and air are cooling... Your child will definitely enjoy lots :)

Thank you everyone for the responses!

Yes, all those sound like good ideas, and I am going to do it.

@MYSTIC: it is a funny thing about swimming pools and her. She is not yet a good swimmer but she would spend a whole day moving around in the water - pool or beach.

Any advice on choosing a hotel?

Re: What can kids do in Cameron Highlands?

I drove up during the June school holidays last year and stayed in the Cameron Highlands Resort. I think one of the most expensive hotels there but very nice. Huge rooms, wonderful breakfast and you should have high tea with you kid there.

Hi Bandu

As Ioki suggested - the Cameron Highlands Resort is THE place to stay.

It overlooks the Golf Course - wonderful cozy room, great bed + great shower.

Don't miss the breakfast (I won't spoil it by telling u the details).

Sit in the balcony - get some fresh strawberries + chocolate dip (for your kid), pop the champagne, kick back and enjoy the cool evening with your Missus. Enjoy life. Have fun.

Sori - I don't recall seeing any swimming pool at the Cameron Highland Resort !

Re: What can kids do in Cameron Highlands?

Thanks @MYSTIC and @loki. Yes, I am going to book Cameron Highlands Resort.

It looks like other choices are Strawberry Park Resort and Equatorial (which are cheaper), but going by recommendation is always safer!

There seems to be two roads to get there. Which one is better? (Coming from Singapore and driving E90 318 )

Thanks!

I drove up by the new highway - Simpang Pulai (?) - it's a little further but road is better and easier. Coming down, I took the old winding road (Tapah exit) down but kids were car sick.

I would recommend the new road as it's a smoother drive.

Skip Strawberry Park Resort ( check out the comments under Tripadvisor Strawberry Park Resort).

Its a hit and miss - predicated on which type of rooms you get ( more misses than hits ). The place is so run down. Service sucks and breakfast is canteen-type fare.

The prata man (at Strawberry Park Resort) is so grouchy ...... you wait in line to get your pratas and seems to think that "he is doing you a favor" that he is cooking for you. So eat up and shut up.

Just plain pratas.... no onions, no eggs !!:

When the freaking eggs, onions are just next to him ( eggs station ).
