Hi Bros,

I am contemplating on buying a 2nd hand 730i or 730Li that is between 4-5 yrs old. seems like a good deal to buy one now especially that the depreciation is probably lesser than a brand new 3 series.

Any advice from any of you that i should take note with my decision?

Thanks in advance.

Always wondering the real differences between the 730i and 730Li other than the OMV and longer leg room.

Also the selling prices in term of depreciation have a great difference ranging from 10.5k to 16k?

Hi spursburger,

Two friends got bought 730Li (2006 model)... U need to look at mileage, preferably 70k-80k km coz > 100,000 km many parts to service and upgrade. The ride is very comfy but thirsty, full tank probably gives u 400km. I would recommend u send them to KBS for a thorough check before u sign. $125,000+ for a 4 yrs old 730Li is value for $$$$ :D

Look for Bluetooth n something w a updated navi DVD ie 2006 model. Lwb comes with self leveling suspension extra legroom 1 ft, rear electrical seats.

Hi diablo, how to know if the navi is the updated version? And the model should be after which month of year 2006?

Cheers

Re: Need Advice on 730Li 2005-2006

If I m not wrong the production date she be after sep 06 otherwise there is no Bluetooth n u can't retrofit. As for the DVD navi, u can check the map or the version on the DVD .

Re: Need Advice on 730Li 2005-2006

Also I think the early 06 models where used for some event so OMB she be lower n the 07 shd come w rear entertainment. Some o7 /08 came w sunroof.

Re: Need Advice on 730Li 2005-2006

bought an 06 730li mid this year. only decided on purchase as it was PML serviced.

car has been ok so far though some minor probs sent it to workshop.

just crossing my fingers, transmission does not do kaput else more moolah$$$$$

other thing, this car's turning circle is so huge, it cant make a two lane u turn, quite problematic.

Re: Need Advice on 730Li 2005-2006

Mileage is the key not the age of the car. Generally the 730 is a problem free car, as for the lwb u shd try parking in the parallel lots in side lanes where the road is narrow. Quite a challenge. Try to install rear camera aftermarket or original, helps a lot.

hi bro, i just got a dec 2005 730Li for a month, previous ride W220 S-class. I'm getting almost 600kms before the reserve come out :lol2: 50% city 50% highway, meter shows 12.5-13L/100, 15 % heavy foot. Think yr 2 friends driving style lar :errmm: On trip to KL can hit almost 730km per tank, driving averege 150km/h.

I change most of the wore out parts once i got my ride esp the rubber hose system and water pump, my mileage 135k. Damage 6.5K parts are cheaper than S-class 8) should serve me well till end of COE.

This is a very comfy car, esp the seat, it can move in so many directions till it fits yr driving position nicely. 150-180km/h no feel at all :lol2: only set back, turning circle larger than S-class, else no complain.

Hi Bro and Sis, have to borrow this thread as I am not qualified to post a new thread yet.
Beside the above mentioned, are there any more diff between the 730i(E65) and 730Li(E66)? Also, does PML update the maps for you? Or is there other way to update the outdated maps?

TIA.

Re: Need Advice on 730Li 2005-2006

That's about it in terms of difference. For maps u need to buy the latest DVD, shd b abt 1k

Re: Need Advice on 730Li 2005-2006

Yup test drove a 08 730i with my dad, nice ride and luxurious interior. Looking forward to collect the car, still love my E46 though :)

Hate self leveling suspension... car cannot be lowered using after market coilovers...
