Cat Converter

Hi all. I realized that my E36 exhaust has only a centre box and the muffler after the extractor. has it no cat converter? mine is a 94 model.

any E36 gurus can confirm? also, has anyone of you guys tried replacing the centre box with a straight thru box?

Tried before on replacing center with straight thru n was too loud (complain from wife). Engine becomes more powerfull but took it out n put back the stock Cat.

so that center box is the cat? thought its just a resonator..
