Bernie Ecclestone, whose position as the CEO of Formula One Management and Formula One Administration makes him one of the world’s most powerful sporting authorities, got mugged last week. In the attack, the 80-year-old was robbed of jewelry worth the rather unbelievable sum of $314,000. The mugging also came after he complained that London didn’t have enough of a police presence to combat – wait for it – muggings.
But Ecclestone’s a tough character, and not long after the mugging, was returning to work, despite suffering some very apparent injuries during the attack. The Daily Mail posted two pictures showcasing just how brutally he was accosted:
That does not look good. And without the glasses…
Ecclestone called it “a good whacking” – we’ll say. Ecclestone might not be widely beloved (check the comments here under a story about his mugging, for example), but it’s hard not to be impressed how quickly he bounced back after being attacked like that.
