Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

I'm interested in buying the Phoenix Yellow M3 that's currently for sale. It's a 2001 model and one of the few M3s in town with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, as the car has quite a high mileage (close to 150k) and has obviously been used on the track (judging by the tons of stonechips on the leading edge of the bonnet), I'd love to speak with the previous owner before I decide to take the plunge. Can anyone put me in touch with him/her ?

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

bro if you take on the M3 and you don like the CSL rims do give a shout ... we can doa swap with top up for the rims 98305155

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

isnt this m3 the one that was sold by autoincsport 1-2 weeks ago already? is it the one with very bad interior, supersprint quad exhaust?

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

i have seen this car and have been following the sale. it has been selling for nearly a yr and this is the third dealer selling the car on consignment. you would probably have to put aside 20-30k to do up the car. From looks of it the car was driven pretty hard.

Dont worry lah, since you are a "BMW_Judge", who else can disagree other than the BMW Jury. Maybe the Jury will pass their verdict " Sell thy Phoenix Yellow cheapo cheapo":)

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

*best of luck to u dude*

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

I spoke with the seller yesterday and it's my understanding an offer of S$136k will get you the car. I haven't made an offer (yet) and am not certain the resident gestapo (= my significant other) will allow me to make one, but if I do it'll be somewhere north of S$130k. As you appear more keen/desperate to have the car, you can have Sunday all to yourself and I'll wait till early next week before going back ...

This is indeed the same car advertised by AutoIncSports a few weeks ago. What has since changed is that the awful yellow interior (throw-up bucket to the ready) has been replaced with a black interior of an acceptable standard. It's my understanding the E46 M3 takes high mileages quite well (including being thrashed on the track) as long its properly maintained ... come to think of it, that probably applies to any car :screwedu:

Whatever happens in the next week, let's just make sure one of the very few proper (i.e., manual gearbox) M3s left in town doesn't fall victim to the export trade ....

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

i m also one of those keen on the car but yet to see the car. I was offered 138k. Best price liao.

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

good luck to the ppl who are planning to get the car

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

bro selling a year meaning cant sell for a year or? the cond really bad?

Re: Advice on Phoenix Yellow M3

IMHO the only reason a car doesn't sell is becoz of price - at some price even the biggest DOG will find a home. Based on this thread I'd say the market equilibrium appears to have been established at around S$135k.

I've taken a perfunctory look at the car and aesthetics were generally OK for a 6-year old car with 150k on the clock. No significant dings or scratches (other than scuff marks on two corners) and the awesome CSL rims are in very good condition (no signs of kerbing). Mechanically it is essential to have the car checked by a specialist (e.g., BVO) - especially have the compression taken (best indicator of an upcoming top-end overhaul) and make certain the oil pump and crankshaft bearings have been replaced under warranty - the latter is a well-knwon problem with early M3s.

Well, I'm out of the race (yes, the gestapo came down hard) but I'd love a passenger ride with whomever will be the new owner ....
